o you’re firing shots and they attack the single leg head on the outside.? Take the Georgian Grip and sit back into a Brosok Cherez Golovu, or Sumi Gaeshi for you judo purists 😉

Another real example tonight from my own catalogue this time from the President’s Cup International Tournament in Northern Ireland. This match was GBR vs Cameroon. I went on to win this match against a strong opponent and this throw clinched it. A one handed uchimata / podkhvat. Again not something that helps for BJJ but scoring points in sambo or judo it’s ideal.!

We’ve been looking at the Georgian Grip over the last few weeks…

So here’s what it looks like when you take it into competition.

Jake using the Georgian Grip into Osoto Gari / Zadnyaya for a 4-point score at the British Combat Sambo Championships.

Don’t just learn the technique. Learn where it fits in the fight.

🥇 British Combat Sambo Champion — for the third time.

Proud dad moment. ❤️🥋

Well another road trip to Doncaster for the British Open Combat Sambo Championships today!! Another awesome event ran extremely well by Brian and the crew!! Great display by the large human on his third British Combat Sambo title!! Giving a really mature and measured performance, sticking to the plan and choking and arm locking his way to another champion’s belt!! Great way for him to kick off his birthday celebrations properly!! Another bonus being awarded the very special Neil Hall Memorial Award on the day, presented by Brian Lister!! Well done son! Making me proud again!!!! Enjoy your night, love you big fella!!! 🥋🤼👊🏻🥊

Georgian Grip Series No 6! A massive hip throw after drawing your opponent forward using their momentum to launch them into the air!! When you step back, use your body going back to draw them onto you… be careful again with this one in BJJ and grappling events but if you’re hitting it in judo or sambo and you roll straight off you’ll have some decent points on the scoreboard 😉

A swift Ouchi Gari /Zacep from my Georgian Grip Series number 5!! You’d have to watch this in BJJ and Judo comps as you can be reversed and/or swept, if your hips aren’t heavy. In sambo though, you can pin from the guard… have fun and think of your next set up! 😉 stay tuned for Friday and number 6!!

Follow the reaction from their backward drive…
A flurry of strikes creates the reaction, the double-leg attempt creates the direction, and that drive becomes the opportunity for the throw.

Don’t fight the reaction. Use it.

Harai Goshi / Podkhvat movement from Combat Sambo.

🥋🥊 What would you look for from here?

Defending the Georgian grip can be tricky when you’ve got a strong overbearing arm across your back! One trick is to fight your opponent’s sleeve and bait him into really throwing the grip over strong! Then…. Following the reaction…. See what I did there? Attack with a swift Podsechka/sasae!!

Georgian Grip Series 3!!

So last week I asked the question on Georgian Grip Series #2! Why was my leg back..? Well this week, we are deliberately baiting the opponent to take the leg and drive!!! Then we follow the reaction 😉

Remember, a good grip doesn’t just improve one throw…
It improves every option that follows.
This is the second video in my Georgian Grip series. We looked at Kouchi Gari / Zacep Stopoy into an ankle pick using displacement of the partner’s feet. One question tho. Why is my leg right back.? Answer in the comments… 😉🥋👊🏻🤼
