Lionesses 2-0 South Park Belles

Another excellent run out for the girls tonight against a strong and physical South Park Belles side with both teams having to deal with very windy conditions

It was a really competitive game with some great battles all over the pitch. We started exactly as we wanted, pressing high from the off and it paid off almost immediately when Macy-Leigh chased down the goalkeeper, won the ball and calmly slotted home

With plenty of substitutes available, we took the opportunity to rotate the squad and try a few players in different positions. Some of those changes worked really well and gave us plenty to think about going forward

South Park grew into the first half and had a good spell of pressure but the girls defended brilliantly to go into the break 1-0 up. We asked for the same intensity in the 2nd half and every single player delivered. The work rate, encouragement and positivity throughout the team was fantastic. We created a number of chances, only to be denied by some excellent goalkeeping, before Amalie produced a superb looping finish to make it 2-0

A brilliant performance that sets us up nicely for Saturdays tournament, where we hope it's going to be another good day for the Lionesses

PPOTG went to Izzy, absolutely outstanding and ran the midfield. Strong on the ball, composed in possession and constantly picking out great passes

POTG went to Vi, one of the best games we've seen from her. She caused problems all game down the left and delivered cross after cross into the box

Massive well done to the girls tonight. They all did really well, even though they probably hate us right now 😂

I'm really proud of every one of them. It definitely wasn't an easy workout, but they all got through it without giving up, and I'm sure they'll be feeling it tomorrow

Like I said to the girls, it might not seem enjoyable now, but sessions like this will really benefit them in the long term, helping improve their fitness and resilience

🥊⚽ THIS WEDNESDAY | RCA LIONESSES FITNESS SESSION ⚽🥊

This Wednesday we're swapping the football pitch for the boxing gym as our Lionesses head to Ryhope Boxing & Fitness CIC for a specialist fitness session led by Marc Foster

We're delighted to be working alongside Marc and the team, who will be putting the girls through their paces with a session designed to improve fitness, stamina, coordination, confidence and mental resilience.

Football is about much more than what you do with the ball and these sessions will help our players become stronger, fitter and more determined both on and off the pitch

A huge thank you to Marc for supporting our girls and helping us create more opportunities for them. We're excited to build what we hope will become a fantastic partnership throughout the summer and beyond.

Lionesses 3–1 CLS - What a game that was.

The girls were comfortably the better team throughout and on another day, could easily have scored more than 3.

We pinned CLS back in their own half for most of the first half but just couldn't find the breakthrough.

At half-time the girls looked tired, so I asked them to dig deep in the second half as we didn't have any fresh legs to bring on.

They came out flying, scoring 2 quick goals through Tamera and Macy-Leigh and controlled the 2nd half.

Apart from one lapse in concentration where we left ourselves a little exposed and CLS took their chance, they never really threatened us, the defence was brilliant today.

We rounded off the scoring with a lovely move in the box, ending with a composed finish from Amalie to make it 3–1

As already mentioned, the girls played some fantastic football. There were some brilliant one touch passages of play that were great to watch.

A fantastic start to pre season and one that will give the girls a huge confidence boost, especially considering we only had 11 players available today and even had to play with 10 for a spell.

🏆 Player of the Game deservedly went to Ava W! She was outstanding, covered every blade of grass, never stopped working and did a fantastic job when she filled in at right back for part of the game 💪

For the first game back, the girls did brilliantly. To keep that intensity right until the final whistle is a real credit to the effort they've already put into their fitness and that will only continue to improve as pre season goes on.
