Well… yesterday the weather decided to join in at the County Closed! 😂☔️ Safe to say, a few players got more than a little washed out!

So, we’ve decided this is the new official format for the Durham & Cleveland County Closed…
Racket in one hand, umbrella in the other and just crack on! 😂

The players certainly deserve a mention for battling through the rain and keeping the tennis going.

And with summer nearly done, we’d better make the most of the sunshine when we see it! 😂☀️

Day 4 brought plenty of sunshine, fantastic tennis… and even some complimentary Pimms for the spectators! 🍹😎

Another brilliant day at the Durham & Cleveland County Closed, with great matches, plenty of smiles and lots of memories being made on and off court.

We also saw the 11U doubles, 12U singles and doubles, women’s singles and doubles, and men’s singles and doubles get underway, with plenty of exciting tennis already being played!

Entries are officially OPEN from 18th August until 18th September for the D&C County Closed Padel Championship-and we want to see the very best padel players from across our county getting involved!

Whether you’re chasing a County title, looking to test yourself against some of the best players around, or simply fancy being part of this exciting new competition for the local padel community…this one is for you!

🎾 WHO CAN ENTER?

Players must satisfy at least ONE of the following criteria:

✅ Have been born, or have had permanent residence at the date of birth, within the County* boundaries

✅ Currently have permanent residence within the County* boundaries and have done so for at least 12 months immediately prior to the match or competition

✅ Have lived in a permanent residence within the County* boundaries for a period of at least five consecutive years at any time in their life

📍 For this competition, the County boundaries are:
County Durham • Tees Valley Combined Authority • Sunderland • Gateshead • South Tyneside
