A quiet and much cooler evening shooting last night, with a brief pause halfway through for some welcome rain!
Some personal bests shot last night, well done to everyone who came along!
Despite the nights drawing in, we still get enough light to shoot outside, and we still have a few weeks left before heading back indoors.
If you’re interested in joining, don’t hesitate to get in touch!

Meet our Treasurer!
Hi my name is Karen Brewster I am currently the treasurer for the club. I joined in 2018 with my husband. The club is friendly with a relaxed approach to archery with many different bows to shoot, I shoot a recurve bow. Lots of banter, competitions and fun shoots to be had. We also attend the Hadleigh show each year for people to come and have a go. Outside of archery I volunteer for the British heart foundation in Sudbury and as you see from the picture I enjoy knitting and crochet and being curled up on the sofa with a dog beside me. Come along and have a go.

Our weekly shoots look a little bit different in the summer, when we move out of the school hall and outside, kindly hosted by our coach, Robert 🎯

This evening was certainly a warm one, but that didn’t stop us from heading to our outdoor shooting range to have some fun with resin targets, practice new distances or go for some PBs!
You can also see the range of bows we shoot at the club - longbows, barebows, recurves and compounds are all welcome here, along with some friendly competition amongst the archers!
What’s your favourite bow to shoot?

Meet our Chairman!
Hi I’m Peter the current Chairman of the club. I have been a member for about twenty years, mainly shooting long bow, although like the majority of archers I started on a recurve bow. I’m hoping to eventually be able to hit what I am aiming at, but its early days.
For me, archery is a great stress buster, and it can be quite mindful, which in today’s busy world is a blessing. Learning an old skill that doesn’t involve electronics or screens is very satisfying and somehow feels natural. Outside of archery I love to go road cycling and messing about in my shed. The latter being important as I am also the equipment officer for the club and keep the equipment maintained and repaired as necessary.
Our club is very friendly, and all are welcome, regardless of whether you are a beginner or very experienced. I’m pleased to say that our club doesn’t take itself too seriously and is a very relaxed place to enjoy your sport, although of course we are all committed to our safety responsibilities. We do have a laugh and it’s really about a group of friends who meet up weekly for fun and happen to shoot a few arrows as well.
The beauty about archery is it is a skill for all ages and genders, and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new hobby.

Well we survived The Hadleigh Show for another year - cool in the morning and burning hot in the afternoon.
Although the show seemed busy our visitors were well down on recent years, although the bar and food area next door were doing a roaring trade.
Last year the position of the new food area did help us, but the large bar marquee, this year, practically made us invisible and diverted people around our entrance.
We'll have to work on signage, if we are at the show again next year.
We must be grateful for what we did take as it is a large effort for those members that attended and does help keep membership fees as low as possible.
On the bright side we did give out details to several people who think they would like a full taster session in the future.

Just a quick heads up for any of our followers who look for us at The Hadleigh Show - this year they have had to move the bar marquee to the flat area, that used to be our entrance way - to get to us you will have to go behind the bar and find a newly made pathway. We will have our flags and signs to guide you.
This means we will be surrounded by the food area and the bar, so no excuse not to come and have a go, as we have everything you need in close proximity.

Last night was the start of our "summer" shooting - we have to move outside for about 10 weeks while exams are on at the school.
Beautiful evening for it and a good turn out from the club.
Thanks to Wayne for the pictures
