Another busy week across our Minis & Juniors, with lots of skills being developed and plenty of progress already showing just three weeks into the new season.
๐ง๐ผ๐๐
Our Tots had an amazing week, with incredible listening, following instructions and willingness to try new games. This was only their third week, and with all of them just three years old, it was an incredible effort all round! ๐
We practised โSquashing the Wormโ (scoring a try), played Rob the Nest and counted all the balls we had collected at the end. We finished with a game of dodgeball, where the Tots first practised dodging the balls before getting their own back and taking a turn throwing them at the coaches! ๐

The U6s continued working on their ball-handling skills, running through a set course before finishing by scoring a try. They also worked on their defensive stance again with the Toilet Flush game.
Weโre already seeing lots of improvement, even though itโs only week three! ๐

The U7s got their hands and legs warmed up with Chase Race before working on their attacking line formation. They showed some great examples of flat-line passing and running onto the pass.
They then belted up for a 1-on-1 drill, where there were some great diving tag grabs and plenty of fast-paced tries. They finished with a 4v4 game, putting everything they had learned into practice.
After just a few weeks, the team already had a proper game going and are getting used to the rules of the game. Top work, U7s! ๐๐ผ

Our newer U8 players had an introduction to some rugby basics, while the more experienced players worked on attacking triangles and defensive straight lines.

The U9s have been focusing on safe but effective tackling, being tackled and presenting the ball, using both tackle bags and each other.
They then put those skills into practice with a 3v3 walking game, gradually building up to a jogging game. Itโs all coming along nicely! ๐

The U10s are working on tackling and rucking over. The jump from U9 to U10 is a big one, and they are progressing really well!
๐จ๐ญ๐ญ๐ & ๐จ๐ญ๐ฎ๐
The U11s joined forces with the U12s for the first half of the session, working through lots of different drills to improve passing and timing. They focused on drawing defenders and passing into space.
The U11s then separated for some tackling practice, working on using both shoulders and getting into a positive, strong body position. They finished with a game of rugby tennis to practise their kicking and catching, with everyone doing really well!

The u13s continued training hard and working on their rugby skills.
๐จ๐ญ๐ฐ๐
The U14s have been working on lineouts and mauls as they get ready for their first game. ๐
Itโs brilliant to see everyone getting stuck in and developing their skills already this season.

If youโve been thinking about trying rugby, or youโd like to bring a friend along, our U9s to U14s teams are looking for new players and would love to welcome some new teammates!
Come along, give it a go and see what Cainscross is all about.
