Flippers Swim School

Only a week to to go until the new term starts 👏🏻 I can’t wait to hear about what the children have been up to in the summer holidays and how much swimming they have been doing 🏊🏻

After running two successful summer crash courses at St Gregory’s school I am really looking forward to starting a new chapter of Flippers Swim School at St Gregory’s primary school in Stratford and St Nicholas primary school in Alcester.

Lessons will run as follows:
Mondays (Stratford) 5.00pm till 7pm, Tuesdays (Stratford) 5.30pm till 7.00pm, Wednesdays 3.45pm till 4.45pm (Alcester) and 5.30pm till 7pm (Stratford)

Spaces will be available shortly to new swimmers wanting to join Flippers Swim School 🏊🏻‍♀️

I can’t believe that it is all over…I set up Flippers Swim School from Croft House Pool 19 years ago after getting frustrated with the enormous groups when teaching at the leisure centre and in that time with Jean Halsall and all the wonderful staff who have taught with us we have taught hundreds of babies, children and adults to swim and be safe in the water.

It is not the end, for the next few terms I will be teaching from a couple of different pools in Stratford and Alcester until I find a more permanent base.

I have run Flippers Swim School out of Croft House Pool for nearly 20 years and in that time, we have taught hundreds of local children how to swim and stay safe in water. It is a wonderful pool, ideal for learning to swim in, and its closure means the loss of yet another vital local facility.

Many families who choose Flippers Swim School because they want their children to learn to swim in a friendly, family environment and be taught by experienced teachers will now have nowhere else to go unless we can find an alternative pool to use from September.

I would urge any locals who know of a pool in the Stratford area that might be open to hosting private lessons after school during term times to reach out to me at [email protected]. We will be grateful for any opportunity to be able to keep teaching the children of Stratford the essential life skill of swimming.

After the sad news that Croft House Pool will be closing in July I am still desperately looking for a pool to teach from. Swimming is the most important lifeskill we can teach our children and with the ever increasing number of deaths due to drowning especially highlighted in the hot weather we need to carry on!

The half term break has started at Flippers Swim School 😊 We hope all of our swimmers have a lovely week off and look forward to seeing you the week commencing 21st February 🏊🏻

An interesting statistic for those of you who ask ‘when should we stop lessons’

Swim England and their research indicates that 96% of children stop swimming lessons before becoming competent, failing to meet essential water safety standards, such as treading water and swimming in clothes. This means only 4% achieve the necessary skills, leaving millions vulnerable in water.

Quite a scary thought! Swimming is a life skill as well as a great form of exercise for all ages.

There are still spaces on the summer crash course running during the holidays from Monday 28th to Thursday 31st July the cost of this will be £72 and it is open to all abilities.

It is the perfect way to improve confidence and improve strokes whilst having fun, swimming every morning for 4 days in a row 🏊🏻‍♀️🏊🏻‍♂️

An amazing first week back to the new year 🥳 the children have settled back in straight away and are looking forward to the spring term 🏊🏻‍♀️
