Be honest. When you go to the range, are you practising, or just hitting balls?

I had a golfer in a lesson who knew he'd stalled. Plenty of practice, plenty of balls, but he wasn't getting anywhere. He told me, "Every shot feels different."

One goes right, you change something. The next goes left, you change something else. I call it machine-gun golf.

So we stopped him hitting balls. Around 50 rehearsals later, the difference was remarkable, and he summed it up in three words: "Less is more."

I've written up the whole lesson. Comment PRACTICE and I'll send you the link.

Most golfers have been told NOT to use their right hand in the golf swing.

But what if that’s exactly why you’re struggling to release the club properly?

Your right hand has an important role through impact. Used correctly, it can help you square the clubface, create speed and let the club release naturally through the ball.

The key is understanding WHEN and HOW to use it.

In this short video, I’ll show you a simple way to feel the correct right-hand action without forcing or manipulating the club.

Try it and let me know what happens to your strike.

Lost your golf swing?

First thing, stop trying to find it by hitting more balls.

When your swing suddenly disappears, the temptation is to start changing things. Grip. Backswing. Plane. Wrist angles. Tempo. Before long, you’re thinking about five different things and trusting none of them.

Instead, strip it right back.

Start with small, easy swings. Reduce the tension in your hands and shoulders. Forget about positions for a few minutes and concentrate on making the club move freely.

Then gradually build from half swings, to three-quarter swings, and finally back to a full swing.

And when you hit a good one, don’t immediately start analysing why.

Notice it. Feel it. Repeat it.

Sometimes your golf swing doesn’t need fixing.

It needs trusting again.

That’s a huge part of what I teach through the Timeless Golf Swing® — making the golf swing simpler, more natural and easier to repeat.

Save this one for the next time your swing decides to disappear.

DON’T GIVE UP ON YOUR FINISH!

The finish of your golf swing tells you an awful lot about what happened before it.

If you can finish balanced, relaxed and facing your target, there’s a good chance your body, arms and club have worked together through the shot.

One of the biggest mistakes I see is golfers hitting the ball and almost stopping at impact.

Instead, swing THROUGH the ball and complete the movement.

A simple challenge:

Hit the shot
Finish with your chest facing the target
Trail foot up onto the toe
Hold your finish for 6 seconds

If you can hold it comfortably, you’re giving yourself a much better chance of creating balance, rhythm and consistency.

Remember, the golf ball isn’t the finish line. The finish is.

Your wrists ARE supposed to release in the golf swing.

But that doesn’t mean you need to consciously flick your hands at the ball.

A good release happens as the club, arms and body work together through impact. Your wrists need freedom to move, rather than being held rigid or manipulated.

Too many golfers try to keep everything controlled and end up creating tension, losing speed and making the swing much harder work.

Let the club RELEASE.

Let the wrists work naturally.

And keep the motion flowing all the way through to your finish.

You might be surprised how much easier it becomes to generate speed when you stop trying to manufacture it.

Save this and try it on the range.

STOP trying to keep your arms straight in the golf swing.

It’s one of those pieces of advice that can actually create more tension and make the swing feel harder than it needs to be.

Your arms need to be able to move, fold and respond naturally as your body turns. Trying to physically hold them straight can tighten the shoulders and arms and restrict the free-flowing motion we’re looking for.

Think SOFT rather than STRAIGHT.

Let the arms work naturally with the movement of your body and you may be surprised how much easier the swing feels.

Golf doesn’t need to be as complicated as we sometimes make it.

Save this and try it next time you practise.

Losing distance doesn’t necessarily mean you need to swing harder.

Sometimes you need equipment that works better with the swing you have.

That’s exactly why I wanted to introduce more golfers to XXIO.

XXIO golf clubs are designed specifically to be lightweight, easy to swing and help golfers generate speed without feeling as though they have to force it.

If you’re finding your current clubs are starting to feel heavy, you’ve lost a few yards over the years, or you simply want golf to feel easier again, they are absolutely worth trying.

We’re an XXIO Approved Centre here at Proper Golfing, so you can come in, hit them properly, see the numbers and discover whether they actually make a difference to YOUR game.

Don’t guess. Come and try them.

Visit ProperGolfing.com or message us “XXIO” for more information.

Save this video if distance is something you’re working on, and send it to a golfer who might benefit from trying something different.

Want to get the ball HIGHER out of a bunker?

You don’t necessarily need a more lofted club. You need to know how to add loft to the club you already have.

In this video, I’ll show you a simple way to open the clubface correctly and create more effective loft, helping the ball come out higher and softer from the sand.

The key is making the adjustment BEFORE you take your grip, rather than gripping the club first and then twisting the face open.

Small change. Big difference.

Save this one and try it next time you’re in the practice bunker.

This is a shot where you HAVE to commit.

I’ve got a hazard in front of me, I’m playing a high shot with a short club, and once I’ve made my decision there’s no room for doubt.

One of the biggest mistakes golfers make is choosing the shot, standing over the ball… and then changing their mind halfway through the swing.

Pick the shot. Visualise it. Trust it. And commit to the finish.

Sometimes better golf isn’t about changing your swing. It’s about trusting the swing you already have.
