What a wet finish to the season! 🌧️🏌️‍♀️

Our final scratch match against Matlock (away} was a proper wash-out — we all got absolutely soaked ☔️

It was a brilliantly close-fought contest, but unfortunately, we just missed out with a 3½ to 1½ loss.

Huge congratulations to all the ladies on a fantastic season! Taking on the Scratch League for the very first time was a big step so thank to all the ladies who played and all the SGC ladies for their support. ⛳️⛳️

By way of an update, we are happy to report that we are making steady progress in our recovery following the fire damage. We are removing 1000 trees, repairing damage and we also have to make good our boundary with Racecourse Lane which is a huge undertaking. All of this will take time but is critical in making the area safe for members and walkers. The public footpaths will open in time but currently remain closed.

As a club, we'd like to thank everyone that has supported us in every way and, as ever, our thoughts are with those around us who have been impacted.

What a great cause and a great prize!

Unfortunately, this fabulous event is one of many that has been postponed due to the fire damage to the course. We have contacted as many players as possible but are still reaching out to those from across the country that didn't register with their full contact details.
Please don't travel. We will reimburse all entry fees and hope to see you soon once we are recovered and fully back operational. Our apologies and thank you for your support.

Club Night tonight with a packed house to hear our Chairman talk through the events of the last week from our perspective but also our next steps as a club to get back to normal but also continue to support and to do the right thing by our, and for our, community.
The amazing Vicki Vianne Nash and Daniel Bowen Smith from Detroit Soul Collective sung us out with a set of classics to brighten the mood. Thank you so much guys x

We will recover from this with a membership that supports the club to the end. Amazing attendance tonight.

Update:
Thanks to the hard work of our teams, our members and of course that of the emergency services, we are now open as a club house. This is a significant step and we are hoping to support those impacted by the fires within our community. Please come and speak with us to find out more.
The golf course itself will take us a little longer as there is so much damage. However, the top part of the course, all being well will be open from Saturday. This is only 6 holes but it is a start and we will build from there.

Statement:
Our course remains closed at this time while we continue the work required to make this a safe space for everyone. The offers of support from over 40 golf clubs plus Stourbridge Football Club, Stourbridge Cricket Club and Old Halesonians Association is overwhelming and enormously appreciated. The West Midlands Fire Service are still on the course and have our upmost respect and gratitude for the work they are doing for all of us in the community as do all of the emergency services.
Our clubhouse is within the area that is cordoned off so remains closed and we will update on that on Monday morning.
Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected during this time.

As a club our thoughts go out to all of our community that has been impacted by the fire that spread so quickly yesterday. Our golf course and clubhouse remain closed for now as we assess the full scale of the impact to our grounds and we begin the process of recovery and ensuring safety for all. We would like to acknowledge and thank the emergency services, many of whom are still working on our course.
