We welcomed the RAF U23s to Stourton Park in November of last year where they ran our winners against a Royal Navy side and we're looking forward to having them back again this year.

The Stourbridge side will primarily feature players from our Lions team, supported by a number of First XV players, giving our wider Senior Squad another valuable run-out ahead of the competitive season.

Friday night rugby, under the lights, with the bar open... a pretty good way to start the weekend! ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‰

Come down and support the lads! ๐Ÿ’™

๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‰ HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIKE! ๐Ÿ‰๐ŸŽ‰ -Todayโ€™s birthday is none other than Hoppers Captain Mike Steven! ๐Ÿฅณ

Mike might officially name himself as Captain of our Hoppers, but more than that, he is the leader of this team.

Alongside the wider Hoppers โ€˜leadership groupโ€™, Mike has created something that is about much more than just rugby; a team of men who genuinely look out for one another and support each other through the good times and the bad. That sense of camaraderie is a commendable achievement ๐Ÿ’™

Theyโ€™re also a massive part of the social side of our club and, as most of us know, the Hoppers know how to have a REALLY GOOD TIME! ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜‚

Happy Birthday Mike from everyone at Stourbridge Rugby. We hope you have a great day! ๐Ÿป๐Ÿฆ—

๐Ÿ‰ PROJECT 150 ๐Ÿ‰ - As Stourbridge Rugby Club enters its 150th year, the Committee is launching Project 150, an independent review of how the Club operates today and how we can ensure it is fit for the next 150 years.

A full statement was sent by email at 6.30pm this evening to all 2025/26 members, along with new members who have already joined for the coming season. A brief synopsis is below.

From 1st September, Steve Hewitt, former CEO of Gymshark, will spend 4-6 weeks looking closely at the way we operate across all areas of the Club, including our office and administration, bar operation, facilities, rugby structures, financial foundations and how we communicate with our wider membership.

This is not an audit. It is an opportunity to look โ€œunder the bonnetโ€, understand what we already do well, identify where we can improve and ultimately develop a five-year strategic blueprint for the Club.

Steve is giving his time and expertise independently, having seen his son Oli progress through Stourbridge from M&Jโ€™s to C**ts before recently signing a full-time senior contract with Gloucester Rugby.

We are also pleased to confirm our Committee for the 150th season:

Neil Mitchell, Chairman
Mike Dyson, M&Jโ€™s
Chris Roe, Facilities
Paul Davidson, Club Secretary
Richard Baron, Commercial
John Waldron, Chairman of Governance
Alf Edwards, President
Miles Edge, Senior Vice President

We also welcome Nik Bayley and John Parkes to the Committee, primarily representing our Mini and Junior membership.

Louise Hibbert, our General Manager, is a full-time employee with overall responsibility for the operation and development of the club. Louise also sits on the Committee in a non-voting capacity and is directly involved in Project 150, working to help secure the long-term future of the club.

Sarah Wallis has also accepted in principle the position of Treasurer, with the precise remit to be defined following Steveโ€™s review.

๐Ÿ“ง If you were a 2025/26 member or have already joined for the coming season and have not received tonightโ€™s email, please email [email protected] and a copy will be sent to you after the Bank Holiday weekend.

We will keep members updated as Project 150 progresses over the coming weeks and months.

Hereโ€™s to building the best version of Stourbridge Rugby Club for our next 150 years. ๐Ÿ’™

๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‰ HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALEX - Today weโ€™re wishing a very Happy Birthday to Hoppers and Lions player Alex Hurrell! ๐Ÿฅณ

Sorry Alex - we know todayโ€™s photo might not be the best one weโ€™ve ever shared, but it IS a Player of the Match winning photo, so we think that makes up for it๐Ÿ† and letโ€™s be honest, finding a photo of Alex with his clothes on proved more difficult than expected... ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™ˆ

Thereโ€™s been plenty for Alex to celebrate recently too, after getting engaged to his girlfriend! ๐Ÿ’โค๏ธ

๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‰ BELATED BIRTHDAY WISHES! ๐Ÿ‰๐ŸŽ‰

A couple of belated Happy Birthdays from yesterday... we should have posted these at the time, but some of us may have enjoyed the return of pre-season rugby a little too much! ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿป Sorry!

A very Happy Birthday to Hoppers player Joe Middleton ๐Ÿฆ— and to graduating C**t Archie Samuel, who celebrated his 18th birthday! ๐ŸŽ‚

Archie has now officially made the step up from the C**ts into our Senior Squad, so a big season ahead for him! ๐Ÿ‰

Hope you both had a brilliant birthday and enjoyed the celebrations! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿฉท

๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ’™ What a way to welcome rugby back for the 2026/27 season!

A brilliant afternoon bathed in glorious sunshine saw Stourbridge run out 33-19 winners against Huel Tring, with a Player of the Match performance from Callum Corcoran. ๐Ÿ‘ It was also great to see some familiar faces in the Tring side and welcome them back to Stourton Park.

It was fantastic to have so many of you back with us too, it felt like weโ€™d never been away! Thank you, as always, for your brilliant support.

๐Ÿšœ 50/50 FARMERS FUND DRAW ๐Ÿšœ
As you know, yesterdayโ€™s 50/50 draw was raising money for the 9 local farmers affected by the recent wildfires.

Weโ€™ve decided to make the draw a ROLLOVER across all of our home pre-season fixtures, giving us the chance to raise even more for the farmers and build an even bigger prize pot!

Yesterday you helped us raise an amazing ยฃ470:
๐Ÿšœ ยฃ235 currently raised for the farmers
๐Ÿ’ฐ ยฃ235 currently in the prize pot

We have taken contact details from all ticket holders, but please KEEP HOLD OF YOUR TICKETS! ๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ

Keep an eye on our social media and website for updates on the growing prize fund, your next chance to enter and confirmation of when the winning ticket will be drawn.

And finally, in classic Stourbridge style, we couldnโ€™t just ease quietly into pre-season... ๐Ÿ˜‚

The celebrations continued after the rugby for Jasmine Faulkner-Harperโ€™s birthday. If you thought you saw the characters from Shrek wandering down Wollaston High Street last night... you werenโ€™t wrong, it was our Panthers! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿซ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿญ

Rugby was well and truly back in style! ๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿ’™

Weโ€™ve named our starting XV, but expect to see plenty of changes throughout the afternoon as players from across our Senior Squad get their first run-out of pre-season.

๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿ’™ 50/50 DRAW FOR OUR LOCAL FARMERS ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿฉท

Todayโ€™s 50/50 draw will be a little different. Instead of the club receiving its usual 50% share, weโ€™ll be donating it to the Farmers Fund GoFundMe https://www.gofundme.com/f/supporting-the-farmers-of-the-stourbridge-wildfires supporting the local farmers affected by last weekโ€™s devastating Stourbridge wildfire.

These are some of the same farmers who jumped into their tractors as the fire spread, creating fire breaks and working alongside the emergency services to help protect homes and our wider community.

So please get involved in todayโ€™s draw if you can. One lucky winner will still take home 50% of the pot, with the other 50% going to a very worthy local cause.

See you later ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿป

Whilst we have named our starting XV todays game will feature many players from across our senior squad, so you will be also seeing many familiar faces from last seasons First XV, the Lions, Hoppers and our graduating C**ts - you will also be able to spot some brand new faces too.

Today we will also be running a special 50/50 draw where rather than 50% of the proceeds going to the club they will be given to the Farmers Fund GoFundMe: On 13 August 2026, wildfire tore across 500 acres of Stourbridge, and as the flames closed in, local farmers stepped up with the firefighters to stand between the fire and our homes.

9 local farmers, hurriedly dug trenches and climbed into their tractors to cultivate the land and create fire breaks, working to slow the flamesโ€™ path. This quick thinking and courage undoubtedly saved homes that would otherwise have been lost. They are heroes within this story, and now they need our help.

These are families who have farmed this land for generations - picturesque land that many of us walk our dogs, ride horses and cycle across every day. Before the fire even started, they were already fighting one of the driest, harshest summers on record: crops stunted, grazing scorched, water scarce. Now, with fields blackened and boundaries destroyed, they face a second blow on top of the first.

This is where we come in. Every pound raised will go directly to the farmers of Stourbridge - the same farmers who bravely fought to protect our community when it mattered most - to help them rebuild what the fire has taken, and to bridge them through the weeks of investigation and recovery ahead.

Please support if you can ๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ‰ IMPORTANT 2026/27 SEASON & FIXTURE UPDATE ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿšจ - Following an announcement from the RFU last week, the start of the competitive community rugby season has been delayed until the week commencing Monday 21st September.

๐Ÿ“… As a result, our opening league fixtures have been rescheduled:
- our first home games for the Senior Male teams are as follows:

๐Ÿ‰ FIRST XV - Saturday 26th September v Bromsgrove
๐Ÿฆ LIONS - Saturday 3rd October vs Veseyans
๐Ÿฆ— HOPPERS - Saturday 26th September v DK Wasps

The RFU made the decision to delay following extensive consultation with clubs across England and in response to the continued hard and dry pitch conditions.

The decision has been made on three key grounds:
๐Ÿ‰ PLAYER WELFARE
โš–๏ธ COMPETITION INTEGRITY
๐Ÿ“… PLANNING

While it means weโ€™ll have to wait a little longer for the competitive action to begin in our historic 150th Anniversary season, there is still rugby to look forward to!

๐Ÿ‰ Weโ€™re looking forward to throwing open the gates of Stourton Park this weekend as our Senior Squad take on Huel Tring in our first pre-season fixture.
