Our members had an epic day on Sunday at Marston Mega Cross! 💥🚴‍♀️

This 3-hour endurance cyclocross event gives riders the choice to tackle the course solo or team up and race relay-style. Either way, it’s tough, muddy (or dusty…) and guaranteed to leave riders with some very dirty faces!

A special shoutout to Jackie and Jo, who battled their way to an impressive 8th place in their category.

Thinking of Stourbridge

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the devastating wildfires around Stourbridge and the surrounding area.

Many of our members live in and around Stourbridge, and the fields and lanes now affected are places that are very familiar to us, and that we love riding through week after week.

It’s incredibly sad to see farmland and homes damaged by these fires, and we’re thinking of all those who have lost property, livelihoods or precious parts of the countryside they call home.

A huge thank you to the emergency services and everyone working tirelessly to keep the local community safe.

A HUGE ACHIEVEMENT 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️

We’d like to give a huge shoutout to SCC members Claire and Matt, who completed an incredible challenge last week, riding from Land’s End to John o’Groats in just 5 days, 12 hours and 24 minutes!

They took on LEJOG to raise money for the MND Association, following the diagnosis of Claire’s mum, Chrissie, last September. Here’s a little bit about their journey, along with a link to their fundraising page for anyone who would like to support this brilliant cause.

The pair set off from Land’s End on Sunday 2nd August, aiming to complete the challenge in under five days. Their first day was a huge 192 miles with over 14,000ft of climbing, before heading north through Manchester on day two. By just before midnight on day three, they had crossed the Scottish border and covered 521 miles.

The challenge certainly wasn’t without its difficulties. Matt battled excruciating knee pain at times, while Claire had an off after a car passed dangerously close, resulting in a broken rear mech. Despite those setbacks, they picked themselves up, sorted the bike and carried on.

The combination of early starts, riding into the early hours, sleep deprivation and the heat of those first few days eventually meant they decided to spread the remaining miles over a little longer. Day five took them through the Cairngorms, with a still-impressive 130 miles, before their final 120-mile push to John o’Groats.

They experienced almost every season along the way, from temperatures approaching 30°C in the first couple of days to storms and torrential rain in Scotland (of course…).🌦️

Their efforts have raised an incredible amount for MND. Over £3,000 was raised during the ride, taking their total fundraising to more than £5,000! 🙌

The fundraising doesn’t stop there either, with the Great North Run next on the calendar, followed by Ironman Cascais in October.

🚀 A new SCC club record! 🍊

What a ride from Simon Hall today! Simon has set a new club 100-mile record, finishing in 3:47:45, smashing the previous record (from 1999) of 3:49:52! 🏆

Huge congratulations, Simon. Chapeau! 👏🚴‍♂️💨

A seriously strong showing from our 4-up team in today’s 50km TTT in Newport! 🚴‍♂️💨

They powered round in a speedy 1:10:17, earning a fantastic bronze medal in the Road Bike Team category! 🥉

Our orange jerseys reached the summit of Le Col du Galibier this week, making it a day to remember for long-standing members Kev and Sue, as they celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary!🧡⛰️

Rumour has it, Kev had planned “just a little potter around on the bikes”… 🚴🤭

SSSCCRRL Round 7 | Pattingham

Last week saw the final round of this year’s handicap series on the familiar Pattingham circuit. It was another glorious evening for racing, with the handicap groups working brilliantly together and managing to stay away right to the finish.

A huge congratulations to SCC’s Luke Bodin on a fantastic top five finish! 👏

The evening also wrapped up with a few well-deserved awards and thank yous:

We’re incredibly proud that SCC finished 2nd overall in the team standings. A brilliant achievement and a testament to everyone who raced throughout the series and contributed along the way.

A huge thank you to Phil, who has tirelessly collected and transported all of the race signage each week. A true unsung hero behind the scenes. Roger collected Phil’s gift on his behalf.

That’s a wrap on the 2026 TT season! 🎉

Twelve riders took on our Six Ashes course last night, with everyone posting some cracking times. Congratulations to Anthony Neave (SCC), who flew around the course in 24:06 to take the win. 🏆

SSSCCRRL Round 6 - Charlton
Another beautiful evening for last week’s Thursday League, with four of our riders lining up and all looking strong.

Chapeau to Ian Williams, who seized his opportunity with a bold solo attack. He built up an impressive lead and stayed clear for several laps, keeping everyone on the edge of their seats. Unfortunately, he was reeled in on the final lap, but it was a fantastic effort and an exciting race to watch. 💪🏼

🚴 Our final TT of the 2026 season is tomorrow (Tuesday) evening!

This week we’re racing our alternative course, so make sure you’re familiar with the route:

📍 Start in the opposite direction to usual, through Bobbington, Six Ashes, left onto the main road, through Enville, left onto Chester Road, then left onto Highgate Lane, finishing in Halfpenny Green just after the final left-hand bend.
