A little update for transparency
Those of you who have followed me or come to my classes over the last few years will know that I was diagnosed with stage 4 extra-pelvic endometriosis after an emergency appendicectomy two years ago.
I'm awaiting complex but necessary surgery, which is rumoured to be at the very end of November. Progress is slow and getting an update is genuinely impossible. (I was bounced around ao many phone numbers, you'd have thought i was trying to get hold of MI5.)
The latest carrot I've been dangled is a pre-op assessment this Saturday. Now, it could mean surgery is tantalisingly close, but they were very firm in telling me the pre-op assessment is valid for 4 months. Clear as mud.
I appreciate your patience and support - it genuinely means the world to me. In return, I promise to come back as soon as my body is 100% ready and rested.
In the meantime, I'll be teaching right up until my mystical surgery date and focusing on being as fit for surgery as this pesky disease allows.
This has certainly taught me a lot about endometriosis, fatigue and pain management - I hope that once I've had treatment, I can share what I've learned and bring some relief to those managing chronic conditions every day.
