🌒 Watch tonight’s Eclipse from Stonehaven Heated Open Air Pool

Looking back at (but not directly at) the 1999 total solar eclipse across Aberdeen and the north Aberdonians were disappointed and Invernessians were delighted - the last total solar eclipse back in 1999 was met with mixed reviews across the north and north-east as cloud cover spoiled some viewers' expectations.

With the warm weather here we're delighted to see so many of you enjoying the pool. You're very welcome to bring your own picnic, snacks and soft drinks to enjoy as well as visiting The Splash Café.

⚠️ However, alcohol is not permitted and will be confiscated.

Swimming and alcohol don't mix. Alcohol can affect judgement, coordination and reaction times, making it unsafe to swim and increasing the risk of accidents in and around the water.

We've had a number of issues with alcohol being brought into the pool this season, so we're asking everyone to help us keep the pool a safe, welcoming and family-friendly place for all.

The 2026 SBA Window Guessing Competition begins TOMORROW!

The competition runs each week throughout the Stonehaven school holidays.

Spot the ‘odd thing out’ in the windows of participating businesses - items will change every Monday morning for a whole new competition each week!

Entry is still only £1 per form and forms are available from My Beautiful Caravan, 17 Market Square - please bring cash as we are unable to take card payment for entry forms.

𝗙𝗔𝗤𝘀
• Lockers - £1.00 deposit
• Pool Depth - 0.8 m at shallow end. 2.2 m at deep end
• Pool is heated to around 29°c
• The Splash Café serves hot and cold snacks and drinks. It is open to all - you don't need a pool ticket to visit. If you are in swimwear you can order from the hatches on poolside
• You can bring a picnic, drinks and snacks to enjoy on our sun terraces but absolutely no alcohol.
• Children aged 8 and over who can swim can use the chute and inflatable. Younger children may be able to use them if they successfully complete a swim competency test.

𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆
There is ramp access at the front door, an accessible changing room with hoist, walk-in steps at all four corners of the pool and a poolside hoist. Please ask at reception for any assistance required - no need to prebook. There is also a Changing Place Toilet in the Leisure Centre adjacent to the outdoor pool.

𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿
The Pool is open at the times advertised regardless of the weather. The only conditions that force closure on safety grounds is thunder and lightning. Swimming in the rain is a wonderful experience - you are wet anyway!

FREE Opera at Dunnottar Castle this Sunday! 🏰🎭⛰️🎶

Looking for something a bit different this weekend? Scottish Opera are bringing two free outdoor performances to Stonehaven on Sunday 21 June.

🏆 Be a Sport, Spike! – 1pm
A fun, family-friendly 30-minute show packed with music, theatre and plenty of laughs.

❤️ A Little Bit of The Elixir of Love – 3pm
A charming 30-minute introduction to opera, suitable for all ages.

📍 Performances take place on the grass opposite Dunnottar Castle.
🎟️ Tickets for Dunnottar Castle are NOT required to attend – just turn up and enjoy!
