Brand New for 2026 from AXIA Fishing is their Orbital range of rods.
I have the Bass Lure rod (rrp £33.99) and the Flattie rod (rrp £39.99) in the shop now.
The quality of these rods is fantastic for the price range. The Flattie rod will be perfect for fishing off the harbour here in Stonehaven.
About Orbital
The Orbital range offers lightweight, versatile rods crafted with quality fittings and a clean, minimalist design. Each model is purpose built for a specific style of fishing, delivering dependable performance. Perfect for anglers who want reliable, great value tackle.
Come and check them out!

Part of my HTO Lures order has arrived.
40g jigs restocked.
The sinking version of the Bombarda kit is now in stock along with the floating and semi sinking kits.
The 3.45m carbon handle and net, lightweight and perfect for landing those bigger fish at higher marks.
I was expecting some 60g lures and jigs also, hopefully they arrive tomorrow, if not it will be next week unfortunately.

Difficult conditions last night on the rocks with a south easterly breeze stirring the sea up. The breeze also made it difficult to control the lure and keep it out of the snags.
I caught half a dozen Mackerel, some small Coalfish and this nice Po***ck.
All caught on a HTO pathfinder roadkill 28g lure. (Which I eventually lost to a snag 🤷)
All fish returned.

I have just had a delivery of some more HTO Lures
I have added the 42g Roadkills and topped up with some more 40g Tic Tacs.
Plus some more of the popular 28g Roadkills
There are also some smaller size 6 white feather rigs from Tronixpro.

Another successful trip out onto the rocks yesterday evening. Trying a completely new mark resulting in a cracking Po***ck on small 17g jig.
Plenty of Mackerel, Coalfish and even a Poor Cod on the bait rod.
Absolute stunner of an evening including an appearance from the Dolphins around 100 yards out!
All fish released apart from one Mackerel which I kept for bait.

I've been out tonight rock hopping at Garron Point chasing the elusive po***ck!
Lots of Mackerel and some half decent Coalfish landed but no Po***ck. All fish released.
Light rod and small lures made for some great sport.

I have restocked with the HTO Lures Bombarda Float sets plus the packs of salt water flies.
The Bombarda method has been super productive lately, especially down at Inverbervie from the shore.
The kit is ready to fish from the packet and another great way of catching Mackerel, Po***ck and Sea Trout from our shores.

I've been handed some tackle from a house clearance to try and find a new home for.
A Milbro fly rod and another unnamed spinning rod. Both rods in decent condition all eyes intact. It would suit any tackle collectors (if they exist!)
Also a bag with two boxes of mep style spinners, 57 spinners in total and all in good condition.
They are in the shop, if you are interested just make a sensible offer so I can give the person a few quid!

**please read this post if you are planning or fishing off the harbour in stonehaven**
If you see a vessel leaving or entering the harbour please wait to cast out and let the vessel pass. There are signs stating this.
This evening we had a line wrapped around the prop of the lifeboat which we spent around 15 mins untangling having to take the propeller off to clear the mono wrapped in it. It may not seem like a lot of time but we had to clear it before being able to head back out to help should an emergency call have come in.
I don't want any bad comments on this post, but it's just a polite reminder when fishing the harbour.
We don't have a handbrake on the lifeboat and we are concentrating on navigating into the harbour avoiding other water users rather than avoiding fishing lines in the water.
