Wedgwood FC travelled to Crackley Field on 6 September 2026 for a 10:30am kick-off in a cup away fixture against AFC Bradwell, emerging with a commanding 7-2 victory after a dominant display throughout the 90 minutes plus added time. The hosts started brightly but Wedgwood’s attacking prowess ultimately proved too much, delivering a comprehensive win that sent them through comfortably.

Wedgwood lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Steven Parry starting in goal before being replaced by Ethan Wheeldon early in the first half. The defensive line comprised Jake Hart at right-back, Logan Mulland and Cam Gardiner as central defenders, and Alyx Bayley on the left. Brandyn Williams and Jake Tunstall held the central midfield roles, tasked with both breaking up play and initiating attacks. Ahead of them, Sam Di Marco operated on the right wing, Ryan Malbon played centrally as an attacking midfielder, and Shane Reaney took up the left attacking midfield position. Owen Bott led the line as the lone striker, expected to spearhead the attack and convert chances created by the midfield trio. Just four minutes later, Owen Bott fired in a spectacular screamer from a short pass by Sam Di Marco, restoring parity and igniting Wedgwood’s momentum. Malbon then converted a penalty in the 24th minute to put Wedgwood ahead. Steven Parry made a full-stretch save in the 27th minute, keeping the lead intact. Shane Reaney’s long pass in the 28th minute led to another chance, with Gardiner again defending resolutely with a header. Sam Di Marco capitalised on Reaney’s assist in the 29th minute to extend the lead.

A tactical substitution saw Ethan Wheeldon replace Parry in goal at the 30th minute mark. Logan Mulland intercepted a threat in the 31st minute, and Di Marco scored again two minutes later to further Wedgwood’s advantage. Malbon scored a stunning strike from outside the area in the 72nd minute, assisted by Forrester’s set pass.

Bott’s shot was saved in the 75th minute, while Callum George made a crucial tackle to prevent a chance in the 76th minute. Alyx Bayley followed with a vital tackle in the 77th minute, and George cleared a header in the 78th minute. Malbon added another goal in the 80th minute, cementing his status as the standout performer.

An injury forced Mulland off in the 81st minute, with Jake Hart returning to the field. Hart’s high attempt came in the 83rd minute, and Ridgway made a comfortable catch in the 88th. The match unfolded over the standard 90 minutes plus added time, with the Bucks asserting their dominance early and maintaining control throughout.

Wedgwood lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, deploying Steven Parry in goal behind a back four of Jake Hart at right back, Jordan Coleman and Cam Gardiner as central defenders, and Tom Birks on the left. The midfield double pivot featured Kieren Forrester and Ben Deakin, tasked with both defensive cover and linking play. Ahead of them, the attacking midfield trio consisted of Brad Lewis on the right, Sam Di Marco centrally, and Tom Raketic on the left, supporting lone striker Owen Bott. The formation was designed to balance defensive solidity with attacking creativity, expecting the wide midfielders and central attacking midfielder to supply chances for Bott upfront. Brad Lewis followed with a high shot a minute later, and Deakin made another vital tackle in the 35th minute to keep Wedgwood in the contest.

Attempts from Di Marco went wide in the 37th minute, and goalkeeper Steven Parry was called into action with a sharp dive at the feet of an attacker in the 41st minute. Brad Lewis also fired wide at this time. The first half concluded with Wedgwood trailing 1-0.

The second half began disastrously for Wedgwood as Chesterton Bucks doubled their lead immediately after the restart in the 46th minute. The visitors’ defensive frailties were further exposed when Tom Birks was forced off injured in the 51st minute, replaced by Callum George.

Chesterton Bucks extended their advantage with a penalty converted in the 54th minute. Wedgwood’s attempts to respond were hampered when Owen Bott was substituted due to injury in the 60th minute, with Josef Capewell coming on to replace him. Shortly after, Sam Di Marco provided a long pass in the 62nd minute that created another chance, but Parry was again alert with a dive at the feet in the 65th minute.

The Bucks scored yet again in the 66th minute, further compounding Wedgwood’s woes. Another injury substitution followed in the 67th minute as Alfie Ridgway replaced Kieren Forrester. Josef Capewell’s shot was saved in the 70th minute, but Wedgwood managed to pull a goal back through Brad Lewis, who converted a penalty in the 71st minute to offer a glimmer of hope.

Unfortunately for Wedgwood, Brad Lewis was forced off injured in the 79th minute, with Kieren Forrester returning to the field. The visitors’ misery was compounded when Chesterton Bucks scored their fifth goal in the 80th minute, effectively sealing the match.

In the closing stages, Jake Hart’s effort was saved in the 84th minute, and Capewell had another shot saved in the 89th. Hart then produced a long pass in the 90th minute that created a chance, followed by Capewell’s slide rule pass in the 91st minute, which also led to a promising opportunity. Callum George’s late attempt in the 92nd minute was saved, but Wedgwood could not find a second goal.

Jake Hart was named player of the match for his tireless work at right back, providing defensive resilience and contributing to attacking moves despite the heavy defeat. Ultimately, Wedgwood FC wereoutplayed and outscored at Crackley Field, with Chesterton Bucks running out comfortable 5-1 winners

Top quality opposition across the competition and the boys have played really well all day to only concerned one goal in the final. The visitors dominated from start to finish, with Ryan Malbon starring as the standout player in a match officiated by referee Mick Amison.

Wedgwood lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, deploying Steven Parry in goal behind a back four of Tom Birks at right back, Jordan Coleman and Cam Gardiner as central defenders, and Kieren Forrester at left back. The midfield double pivot featured Sam Di Marco and Logan Mulland, tasked with both defensive duties and linking play. Ahead of them, the attacking trio consisted of Shane Reaney on the right wing, Ryan Malbon centrally as the attacking midfielder, and Brad Lewis on the left. Owen Bott led the line as the lone striker, expected to spearhead attacks and convert chances. On the bench, Wedgwood had Jake Hart, Ricci Edwards, Ben Deakin, and Josef Capewell ready to make an impact.

However, Wedgwood’s response was emphatic. Just four minutes after Eastwood’s goal, Owen Bott restored the two-goal cushion with a well-placed finish, set up by Sam Di Marco’s precise delivery. The visitors continued to press, and in the 26th minute Brad Lewis found the net himself, capitalising on a clever assist from Malbon to extend the lead further.

At the interval, Wedgwood made a flurry of substitutions, bringing on Josef Capewell, Ben Deakin, Ricci Edwards, and Jake Hart for Owen Bott, Logan Mulland, Jordan Coleman, and Tom Birks respectively. These changes did nothing to slow the visitors’ momentum.

The second half began with immediate impact as Shane Reaney scored within the first minute after the break, assisted by Brad Lewis, who was proving to be a constant creative force. Two minutes later, Malbon struck again, this time set up by Sam Di Marco, continuing his prolific scoring run.

Wedgwood’s dominance was relentless. In the 55th minute, Reaney added his second goal, this time converting a cross from substitute Jake Hart. The visitors’ midfield maestro Sam Di Marco got on the scoresheet himself in the 61st minute, finishing off a move orchestrated by Brad Lewis.

Lewis was not finished either, netting again in the 68th minute with an assist from Capewell, who had come on at half time. Shortly after Jake Hart was denied a goal by a linesmans poor decision of offside after scoring inside the box from a cross. Malbon continued to terrorise the Eastwood defence, scoring twice more in quick succession at the 82nd and 83rd minutes, assisted by Lewis and Di Marco respectively.

Capewell, who had been introduced at half time, also made his mark with two late goals in the 84th and 86th minutes, both assisted by Malbon, rounding off a devastating attacking display.

Wedgwood’s 13-goal haul was a testament to their clinical finishing, fluid attacking play, and tactical discipline. Ryan Malbon’s five goal contribution earned him the player of the match accolade, as he consistently linked play and found the net with ruthless efficiency.

Eastwood Hanley were left shell-shocked by the visitors’ relentless pressure and precision, managing only a solitary goal in reply. Wedgwood’s comprehensive victory at Eastwood Hanley FC will surely be remembered as one of the most dominant performances of the season

Wedgwood FC welcomed ball green WMC to the Wedgwood Sports And Social Club on the morning of 23 August 2026 for a league fixture kicking off at 10:30am. The home side produced a commanding performance to secure a resounding 6-2 victory after 90 minutes of football plus added time.

Wedgwood lined up in a 4-1-3-2 formation, deploying Ethan Wheeldon in goal behind a back four of Tom Birks at right back, Jordan Coleman and Ben Woolley as central defenders, and Alyx Bayley at left back. Jake Tunstall operated as the holding central midfielder, shielding the defence and linking play. Ahead of him, Shane Reaney took up the right attacking midfield role, Brad Lewis played centrally as the attacking midfielder, and Tom Raketic started on the left attacking midfield flank. Up front, the striking partnership consisted of Owen Bott on the right and Ryan Malbon on the left. The substitutes named were Sam Di Marco, Kieren Forrester, George Barlow, Ricci Edwards, Jake Hart, and Joseph Capewell.

From the outset, Wedgwood showed intent with Shane Reaney delivering a long key pass in the 4th minute that created a clear chance. Although Reaney’s subsequent attempt went wide three minutes later, the early pressure was evident. Defensively, Jordan Coleman was alert to head away a dangerous ball at the 7th minute, preventing ball green WMC from capitalising.

The breakthrough came in the 16th minute when Brad Lewis found the net to put Wedgwood ahead. Shortly after, an injury forced an early substitution as Tom Raketic was replaced by Sam Di Marco. Di Marco quickly made an impact, assisting Owen Bott’s goal in the 29th minute. However, ball green WMC responded immediately with a goal of their own in the 30th minute to keep the contest alive.

Wedgwood restored their two-goal cushion in the 33rd minute when Sam Di Marco scored, assisted by Brad Lewis. Jake Tunstall tested the opposition goalkeeper with a shot saved in the 37th minute, and despite Ryan Malbon missing a penalty at 39 minutes, he redeemed himself by converting a penalty just a minute later to extend the lead to 4-1.

As the first half drew to a close, Owen Bott added a fifth goal for Wedgwood in the 45th minute, assisted by Malbon’s short pass. The interval arrived with Wedgwood firmly in control.

The second half began with tactical changes as Kieren Forrester replaced the tiring Owen Bott, and George Barlow came on for the injured Jake Tunstall. Wedgwood’s defensive solidity was maintained with Ben Woolley clearing a header at 54 minutes and George Barlow also making a crucial headed clearance at 69 minutes.

Tom Birks played a key role in midfield, providing a slide rule pass in the 59th minute that created ananother chance. However, injury forced Ben Woolley off in the 66th minute, with Ricci Edwards coming on to bolster the defence. Later tactical substitutions saw Jake Hart replace Birks at 72 minutes and Joseph Capewell come on for Ryan Malbon at 78 minutes.

Ball green WMC managed to pull a goal back from a penalty in the 81st minute, but Wedgwood responded swiftly. Sam Di Marco delivered a long key pass at the same time and then capitalised on a defensive mistake to score his second goal in the 83rd minute, restoring a four-goal advantage.

In the closing stages, Joseph Capewell’s flicked passes in the 86th and 89th minutes created further chances, although Jake Hart’s attempt went high. The game finished with a spectacular scorpion kick from ricci edwards that rattled the crossbar.

Wedgwood’s dominance was clear throughout, with Sam Di Marco standing out as the player of the match for his influential contributions both in attack and as a creative force. The 6-2 scoreline reflected a comprehensive home win that will boost Wedgwood’s confidence in the league.

Well done 👏 to our U13s who came out winners in a tough friendly against a very strong Cheadle SMU u13 26/27 side. With a bare 9 players, meaning no subs, as well as a couple lads being unwell and playing with injuries it was always going to be a difficult morning against top level opposition. The hard work and desire from Wedgwood to stay in the game and get on top to win was fantastic. Coming in 0-2 down at half time the boys went out second half, dug really deep, working hard as a unit and create some good chances. Even with tiring legs they managed to get them selves back in the game drawing it back to 2-2 and then with the last move of the game score the winner. A really useful friendly against a strong Cheadle SMU FC side, just what we need as we prepare for the season. It’s pleasing to see the character and resilience that exists with the team 💙⚽️🩵 Wedgwood FC U13s 3 Cheadle Yellows 2.
