Hi all fantastic days bowling on a hot day - congratulations to Lee Jones on winning the Presidents Prize and well done to Richard Meadowcroft for runner up. Consolation was won by Pete Goulding and runner up David Delahunty. Thank you to all who came down and helped with the marking and pe***ng and to Sue for making scones for all, which raised £11 for the club. Also a big thank you to Alison Sharman our vice President for presenting the prizes today.
Footnote- the trophy was donated in 1983 by that year’s President Harvey Locke, who is still a member and will be at next week’s club Summer Ball.

A really enjoyable President’s Day across all parts of the club . President Andy Armitage and family enjoyed being welcomed into the afternoon tea by Past Presidents and other members following the Bowling and Tennis competitions.

The bowling was a great pairs competition, with congratulations to winners Martin Sharman & Pete Jordan and well done to Eddie Tasker and Andy Clegg as Runners up. The Consolation was won by Gayle Barrow & Jo Canning with Mike Clegg & Jo Taylor runners up. Big thank you to our President Andy Armitage for presenting the prizes on his special day and to all who played today and came down to watch and mark.

And President Andy was delighted to present one of the tennis prizes to nephew Will Armitage, who won the tennis with Nicola Humphries. Sophie Cochlin and Ric Cross were runners up.

Days like this don’t happen by accident so thank you to all who helped in any way but special thanks to Immediate Past President Gurj Singh-Raud for coordinating and setting the room up with his helpers, to Chrissie Gibson for the flowers, Eddie Tasker and Mike Gough for running the competitions and everyone who played their sport, had a tea or bought a drink. (Hope that covers everyone!)

Sunday 17th May saw the Mens Open Doubles Tournament 2026. 10 pairs entered from across all 6 men's teams with some great tennis played throughout. The final was also a great contest which was eventually won by the pre tournament favourites Will Armitage & George Watts 6-3. However, the recently new pairing of Ben Scapens & Oliver Yates made it a great watch for the spectators who were left as the clock ticked towards 7.30pm!!
Our new President Andy Armitage was on hand to present the trophy to Will & George. Congratulations to all 4 finalists in the photo with Andy Armitage & organiser Richard Meadowcroft, shown also with the runners up, Ben & Oliver.
Big thanks to all players & supporters who saw some great tennis on a rain free afternoon/evening!
