🏒 Hockey Match – 6:30pm
🎉 Celebrations – 8:00pm

You don't need to attend the hockey match to join the celebrations at 8pm, so please come along and invite everyone you know!

📸 Lots of photos and videos will be taken throughout the evening.

⛸️ Skaters, please wear your club jackets and dresses if possible, and bring your skates for photo opportunities.

TIME CAPSULE ICE RINK - PARLIAMENT MOTION AND UPDATE

Earlier today I lodged the below Scottish Parliament motion. I was grateful that it quickly received cross party support from across the political spectrum with MSPs from the SNP, Greens, Tories and Reform all supporting.

We also heard the welcome news later that the Labour group on North Lanarkshire Council will not accept the recommendation to close the rink and this coming after the SNP group on the council making clear their intent to put forward an amendment against the recommendation.

The political consensus now very much reflects the huge strength of feeling in the community. The public have spoken and people power is winning the argument!

However this item still remains on the agenda for next weeks Full Council so it’s important that you continue to make your voice heard by contacting your councillor.

Also it’s not just about whether the rink is there or not but the conversation must turn to ongoing investment and maximising its potential.

I hope councillors from all parties will take the chance to progress this conversation next week. I know the many groups and ice users I’ve been speaking to have great ideas how this potential can be achieved.

💔 The skating community is shaken to its core.

💥📣All it would take is £1 per booking to help bridge the shortfall and save The Time Capsule lce rink!

Yet North Lanarkshire Council is still pursuing closure of the Time Capsule Ice Rink despite overwhelming public support to keep it open.

A petition of over 14,000 signatures. More than 1,000 survey responses, with 78% supporting the rink remaining open, with 60% wishing to retain the rink even in a deficit! Every club consulted voted to retain the facility. The message from the community could not be clearer.

This rink is home to figure skating, ice hockey, synchronised skating and learn-to-skate programmes. It provides opportunities for hundreds of young people and adults every week and is one of only a handful of year-round ice rinks in Scotland.
We will not stand down. We will not stop fighting for our sport, our community and our children.
