I nearly quit coaching before I’d even started 😬

Back in 2013, I launched my very first outdoor bootcamp. Around 120 people signed up.

Until then, I’d only ever coached one-to-one personal training sessions and spin classes

I’d never stood in front of a large group

On the morning of the first session, I watched people arriving…

And instead of feeling excited…

I felt sick. Literally SICK 🤒

I remember sitting in my car thinking:

“What if screw this up?”

“What if they don’t enjoy it?”

“What if I make a complete fool of myself?”

I actually pictured myself tripping up in front of everyone and everyone laughing at me 😂😂

Then one thought hit me that I’ll never forget

“They don’t know who I am anyway… if I just drive away, I can still get out of this”

I was genuinely that close 🤏

But after a few minutes, I took a deep breath, got out of the car and walked over

The first session went great although everyone could feel my nervousness- We actually had a bit of a joke about it

Next session went better.. then the next… then the next

That single decision changed the course of my life

Those bootcamps grew year after year
2 locations

Then they became something much more impactful- Shapesmart Gym 🎯

Since then, I’ve had the privilege of helping more than 4,000 people transform their body, health & confidence

Looking back, it’s crazy to think how close I came to throwing all of that experience away…

I didn’t think I wasn’t incapable

But I was scared of what people might think

And I’ve realised that’s exactly what stops so many people from changing their own lives

I get it.

Your goal shouldn’t be to lose weight 😮

It should be to never have to lose the same weight twice

Because if you’ve spent years losing the same 1, 2 or even 5 stone over and over again...

🗣️ “This is what happens when you stop dieting in your 30s and 40s...”

Most people think this is ageing 👇

So when those things happen, they blame age

But what if it isn’t age at all?

When Dawn joined Shapesmart, she was 38 years old

Like so many people, she’d spent years chasing weight loss (which will always backfire)

Lose weight ⬇️
Regain it & more⬆️

She knew there had to be another way

Not another “quick fix”…

She wanted results she could actually maintain. A body that stopped making life so difficult

After a bit of convincing , Dawn stopped making weight loss the goal- and it took convincing! 😅

Fast forward four years

Dawn is now 42

The biggest mistake people make before they even begin…

They assume they need to be fit enough to join a gym.

But getting fit isn’t the price you pay to start

It’s the result of starting 💯

Every person you see in this video was a beginner once

At some point they were nervous
They wondered if they’d keep up
They worried people would judge them
They questioned whether they were “fit enough”

Our advice is always the same:

✔️ Go at your own pace.
✔️ Take breaks whenever you need to.
✔️ If an exercise doesn’t feel right, we’ll give you an alternative.
✔️ Focus on finishing, not keeping up.

There are no prizes for pushing yourself beyond what your body is ready for

The goal isn’t to prove how fit you are on day one

The goal is simply to come back for day two

Then day three

Week after week your confidence grows 📈

You get stronger

Your fitness improves

Exercises that once felt impossible become your warm-up

Nobody walks into a gym with years of experience

Experience is earned by showing up

🗣️ “I honestly thought my age was the reason nothing worked anymore.”

That’s what Amber believed at 45

For years she trained at a local bootcamp-style gym

She genuinely loved the workouts 🏋️‍♀️

She showed up, Worked hard, Sweated, Did the steps, Tried to be “good.”

Training 5 days a week...

..yet her body wasn’t responding the way she expected 😫

Like so many people, she started believing she was the problem. “Maybe it’s an age thing”

But it wasn’t ✋🏼

Her body had adapted to years restriction and “pushing harder” in the gym- it started pushing back
