Debunking Yoga Teacher Training Myths!
1. You have to be flexible and ‘bendy’ – no, this is not the case! Yoga is a philosophy that helps us find calm, develop the sense of awareness and increase body strength. If you can breathe, you can do yoga. In fact, there is a way that Yoga can help you become more flexible, but this is in terms of your mindset and how you react to change and challenges in daily life.
2. You must have done yoga for many years – No, you don’t need to have a lengthy practice but a few years, we suggest around 2, under your belt would be good as a grounding. We find that you are more likely to join a course if you have a regular practice, than someone who has been doing yoga for less than a year. Having said that there are always exceptions, so if you feel drawn to this course whatever your situation, make contact.
3. You must be young – again no way…you can do this training at any age. Seasonal Yoga is a very inclusive practice and can be adjusted to suit many different needs. And of course age is just a number. We believe learning and development can take place at any point in your journey and we’ll give everyone the same level of support.
4. You must want to become a Yoga Teacher – definitely not…come with an open mind and a willingness to learn and grow. You may or may not move onto teach, and teaching comes in many different forms. If you decide not to teach that’s fine, you’ll have had an amazing year of personal evolution…life won’t be the same afterwards.
5. You’ll only learn about postures and nothing else – not so, our SYTT includes breath-work (pranayama), meditation (specifically the Self Enquiry method), Yoga History and Philosophy, Seasonal information based on Five Element Theory etc… You’ll learn to understand yourself better and acquire tools to help you deal with life’s ups and downs. The Seasonal Approach also includes practical day-to-day lifestyle information including dietary recommendations.
