One year ago… I said goodbye forever to my best friend.

Her name is Lola. And she brought me 5 years of incomparable happiness.

Break ups are hard. You lose friends and family. And when there are pets involved - you may have to cut ties with the glue that holds families together.

I think about her every day. Because dogs are our greatest teachers. You learn things like…

🐾 When your loved ones come home, always run to say hello.

🐕 Never pass up an opportunity to go for a walk.

☀️ Always allow yourself to experience fresh air, and sit in that one patch of sunshine.

🌱 On warm days, always lie on the grass.

🤐 Avoid ‘biting’ when just a ‘growl’ would suffice.

🎶 When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

🫶🏻 And never forget: When someone has had a bad day, sit close, stay silent and gently make them know you’re there.

Hold your dog close today. They are life’s greatest gift ❤️

Love… that’s what comes to mind when I think of Scotland 💙

A love for people. A love for friendly chaos. A love for having our voices heard. A love of allowing others to share theirs.

Just like the girl by my side, we may be a bit crazy.

But we love harder than any other country on this earth.

A well known comedian once said his first taste of Scotland was stepping off the train at Glasgow Queen Street and asking a local for the time.

“Time for a pint, come on!” the stranger replied, ushering him towards the pub with him 🍻

We were voted as the world’s friendliest fans the last World Cup we qualified for.

And 28 years on the Tartan Army is once again showing how football can and should bring people together, rather than divide us.

I fully believe we can make history and progress out of the group stages.

Because we are a country of dreamers, believers and chancers 😎

But even if we don’t…

In my eyes we’ve already won…

Because we are inhabitants of the friendliest and craziest country on this wee planet 🌍💙
