How to survive the heat according to Ayurveda ☀️
Ayurveda for Summer - Part 2
If you are feeling the heat.
These Ayurveda tips should help.
The most important one? Remember that like increases like..so introduce the opposite of what you're experiencing.
It comes from the concept of the Gunas, recognising that everything in nature is made up of opposing qualities. Similar to TCM & Yin & Yang theory.
Most of the time, it really is that simple. But somehow it's hard for us to give up what makes us feel 💩
It might not feel like much, but small shifts can make a huge difference.
And you might notice that intuitively, you are already doing a lot of these seasonal adjustments.
✅️Think cooling foods over spicy ones.
✅️Keep hydrated with room-temp over ice-cold water
✅️Balancing high intensity workouts with walks in nature, swimming, gentle Yoga practices & pilates.
✅️Moving in the cooler parts of the day.
✅️Giving yourself permission to slow down.
Ayurveda also reminds us about the 80/20 rule. Life is about finding balance, not perfection. Particularly as Pitta energy thrives on perfection & as there is no such thing we definitely don't want that.

Ayurveda's Guide to Summer: Understanding the Pitta Dosha. Part 1🔥
According to Ayurveda's elemental theory the elements of Fire & Water combine to make up the Pitta Dosha.
This energy combination is responsible for our digestion, metabolism, body temperature, focus, & transformation.
But too much of this fire causes imbalances in our mind & body.
Ayurveda explains that this is the reason for certain symptoms we may experience such as feeling hot all the time, skin flare-ups, digestive discomfort, heated emotions, or a mind that won't switch off at 2am.
The goal in Ayurveda isn't to remove Pitta.
It's to notice the fire rising before it rages out of control & support it back into balance through simple daily habits like food, movement, routine, rest & a supportive environment that calms your nervous system.
Is there anywhere that you are feeling the Pitta dosha within you right now?
Body? Digestion? Mood? Sleep? Energy?
Stay tuned for Part 2 with practices to support Pitta imbalances.

Do you ever feel like a completely different person in summer?
Maybe you're feeling more energised... or maybe you're feeling hotter, more irritable, struggling to sleep or noticing changes in your digestion.
One of the things I love most about Ayurveda is that it reminds us we aren't separate from nature.
We are part of nature.
As the seasons change, so do we.
What if you understood that your body naturally responds to the changing qualities of nature in its own unique way?
In Ayurveda, this is known as Ritucharya, the practice of living in harmony with the seasons.
The warmer, brighter & longer days influence everything from our digestion, hormones & energy to our mood, sleep & even our skin.
When we understand these seasonal shifts, we can make small adjustments that help us feel more balanced, instead of pushing against what our body is naturally experiencing.
I'll be sharing more about this throughout the month ☀️
I've also created a FREE Finding Balance Through Summer Guide filled with simple Ayurvedic nutrition, herbal remedies, yoga, breathwork & self-care practices to help you stay cool, energised & balanced this season.

Looking after your health & wellbeing doesn't have to be complicated.
Sometimes it's simply about learning to live in rhythm with the cycles of nature 🍃
Have you noticed any changes in yourself since the weather got warmer?
I'd love to hear in the comments 🧡

Thank you to all the beautiful women who joined me on Saturday for my sold out Summer Solstice Retreat 💛☀️💃🏽
The theme was JOY & it certainly wove its way through the afternoon with plenty of sunshine, laughter, fun conversations, & dancing without worrying about how we look.
As we reach the halfway point of the seasonal year, we took some time to pause, reflect, and explore what it truly means to live a joyful life.
Some of the reflections we pondered were:
☀️ What brings me joy?
☀️ When do I feel most alive?
☀️ What activities, people, or experiences light me up?
☀️ What would I do more of if I gave myself full permission to feel joy?
☀️ Am I living life to my fullest potential? If not, why not?
☀️ If I trusted life a little more, what would I do differently?
☀️ What is one small step I can take this week towards a life that feels more aligned, vibrant, & alive?
☀️ What's the immediate and long-term benefit of this for me, my relationships, my work, & my confidence to go for what I really want?
Joy is not something we find.
It is something we remember.
It lives in the small moments, the things that make us feel fully present, & in having the courage to choose what truly lights us up.
As always I was to busy enjoying myself to get any photos but thanks to the lovely ladies who did 😘
If you would like to join me to welcome in the Autumn Equinox, I'll be hosting my next retreat at on Saturday 19th September, from 11am–7pm, with an optional overnight stay available.
Send me a message for more details 🍂✨

With the summer just around the corner have you noticed nature is coming into full bloom?
I recently started a herbal medicine course & I have been loving learning more about what plants are in season along with their healing benefits.
It's opened my eyes to just how many medicinal wildflowers are growing all around us in abundance, often unnoticed right on our doorstep.
It's also been a wonderful opportunity to slow down, observe the seasons more closely, & reconnect with the plant wisdom that has been passed down through generations.
One plant I've been particularly excited to find is Comfrey, often referred to as "knitbone" in traditional herbal medicine due to its long history of supporting tissue repair and healing.
Last week I made my own Comfrey balm to see if it would help a sore arm/shoulder I've been dealing with for over a month.
Due to the complexity of my health I'm not entirely sure whether it's menopause or, lupus related, or a combination of both.
Some might say it's the placebo effect, but the discomfort has reduced significantly, the pain has eased, & I'm starting to regain more range of movement again.
The more I've been foraging the more amazed I am to know that there are so many plants growing wild around us that have been used for centuries to support our health & wellbeing.
Have you ever used Comfrey or explored an other healing plants growing on your doorstep?
I'd love to hear about your experiences or tips?
And if you'd like the recipe or would like to try some of my homemade Comfrey balm.
