Not to be for the boys today. Just edged out in a game of fine margins!
Looks like Leigh Rockets are this seasons bogey team! 🤣
We dominated large spells of the game today and I believe we deserved something out of it. Chances missed alongside some good saves and the breaks not going our way etc that on another day if they go for us, we win and win comfortably. Nonetheless, we’ve said it previously, if we don’t work hard enough across all positions on the pitch, be the first to second balls, close down opponents quickly enough and work for the entire game, then we won’t win games that we should win. That was the case today.

Big response needed next week against Great Wakering to show why we believe that we are one of the strongest teams in this division.

Players of the match, managers player went to Jake. When he came on, after starting as sub, he showed that desire to get on the ball, get forward and put maximum effort in. Deserved his 2 goals that got us within touching distance of that draw.

Parents player was Jonty. Put in a superb shift as always when he came on after starting as sub and was relentless in his work rate and desire to get the team playing on the front foot. Drove the team forward and was involved in our 2 goals.

Thanks as always everyone for your support and our best wishes to Leigh Rockets for the next few months. See you at our place.

Big thanks To HPE Event Hire for their continued sponsorship. The boys new away kit is 🔥

What an opening game of the new league season! Up against a solid Leigh Ramblers Red team. The boys started superbly well for the first 15 minutes or so and got what they deserved. Leigh Ramblers came back into the game well and the boys had to dig deep and show some resilience in a nail biting final few minutes. Not at our best for the last part of the game but if we play a full game like we did for the first 15 minutes then we will be a very hard team to beat.

Well done to Noah and Tommy R on being parents player and managers player of the game. Solid defending boys, well done!

The Freddos were back and the boys love their little post game treat. Thanks as always to our parents, siblings and grandparents for your support.

Onto training on Wednesday and a chance to work on some takeaways from today’s game to take us into next weeks game against Leigh Rockets.

Big thanks as always to the Duchess for the half time oranges!

Up the Ath.

A super performance from the boys today against a tough Hullbridge Blues team who play a division above us. The boys dominated the first 15 minutes and were unlucky not to be ahead. It then got that bit tighter for the rest of the first half but the boys always seemed in control. Started the 2nd half a bit slower and the game was end to end. A couple of hairy moments at times! Lovely free kick from Joey to give us a deserved lead and we managed to keep it together for those last few frantic minutes. What a super game, thank you Hullbridge!

So many positives to take from today into next weeks first league game and as ever a few bits to work on to make us even stronger. I thought all 10 boys did something today to influence the game, so a real squad performance.

Well done to Tommy R on being parents player - carrying on where he left off last season. Solid at the back and some good movement forward with the ball. Nearly scored too after putting himself in an excellent position.

Well done Jonty on being managers player. Solid in the middle of the pitch, working up and down and playing some superb through balls and working good combinations with others.

No pictures today.🤦‍♂️ Slap on the wrist for me. Must do better next week!

Thanks as always for your support, parents, siblings and grandparents. Always appreciated. 🟡🔵

Best of luck to Hullbridge for the start of the season. Hopefully see you soon.

Last of the pre season friendlies this Sunday before the league begins on the 20th. A tough one to finish against a good strong Hullbridge Blues. Come down, support the boys and get yourself a bacon roll and coffee from the Duchess.

What a superb day we all had at our annual presentation day yesterday. Every year is special but even more so this year for our 50th anniversary! The boys and parents had a fantastic day and once again show how wonderful this team of boys and parents is.

Another special touch was having our wonderful sponsors HPE Event Hire present the boys their new away kit on the stage!

Well played everyone! Enjoy those hangovers.

Nice little friendly this morning against Leigh Ramblers Red as we slowly wind down a good season. We were missing our walking wounded Bodhi and Lennon. Jake was away celebrating his sisters birthday. So thank you to Sonny H and Seb for playing with the boys and helping out. Both put in a good shift and a massive well done to Seb for being voted parents player, thoroughly deserved! Managers player went to Tommy R, as ever, he just does what he does week in week out. Some good positives to take away from today despite the loss, it was a good tight game for the most part. Thanks as always parents and grandparents for your support.

Today was a good day! On the first anniversary of the very sad passing of our club president George who was our dear friend, dad of our parent John and grandad of our Joey, it was fitting that the boys got something today for him by winning the plate trophy. The boys were solid in most of the games and started to step it up in the last few games of our home tournament. They won the final on penalties, I hate them and hate seeing someone have to lose, we’ve suffered that a few times, so it was good to get a win.

It was brilliant to see the football being played in a very friendly atmosphere with some superb skills on show. A super day all round and what grassroots football is all about.

Congratulations to our good friends at Perry Street Black for winning the cup.

2 finals, both going to penalties and a good day all round.

Thank you to all of our parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, nans and grandads for your support today. It’s always appreciated.

Special thanks to our wonderful sponsor HPE Event Hire for always supporting the boys. Today was some well deserved ice creams from them. Thanks Haydon! Henderson Perry Entertainment

Friendlies are the theme of the day now when we are between tournaments and we had a quality game against our good friends on and off the pitch at Tilbury Scorpions this morning. A very good game of football from both teams, a tight first half that we just shaded and then stepped up the performance in the second half and got the rewards. Good all round play from all of our boys at times against good opposition .

Parents player of the match went to Brandon, he was back to his best today and fully deserved the plaudits! 2 great goals, one a superb finish and another from just a sheer will to win the ball.

Managers player was Lewis. Clean sheet and some quality saves to keep out some good shots from the Tilbury boys. He was brave with his diving and good with his feet.

Special mention as well to Bodhi. Despite being injured and in a moon boot and on a crutch, he still turned up in kit to support the boys. That’s there epitomises team spirit! 👏👏

Thanks as always, mums, dads, siblings, nans and grandparents for your support.

Well done today boys!
