121 and Small Group Football Coaching - Stafford

Another session with these chaps last night. It’s a great little group that challenge each other. A little bit of speed, agility and quickness work, then we got into lots and lots of detail….

⚽️ Big touches to exploit space
⚽️ Small touches to travel quickly while coming up to and beating defenders
⚽️ Experimenting with how close we get to the defender when attempting a skill

⚽️ Scanning
⚽️ Looking beyond the first defender and understanding the whole picture

But the big main point was communication…

Getting beyond simply asking for the ball and starting to help direct play will not only help you get the ball in better positions, it will also help your team mates improve their game 🙌🏻🙌🏻🤩🤩

The aim of our small group sessions are to develop both technical ability and skill.

So what do we mean by technical ability and skill?

Well….

We spend some time developing technical ability which are techniques that are performed in an unopposed setting. So the techniques could be passing, receiving, shooting, dribbling, running with the ball, aerial control, angles, distances, movements, body shape, scanning etc

We look at…
⚽️ Selection of Technique
⚽️ Technical Details
⚽️ Quality of Technique
⚽️ Repetition
⚽️ Variety

We then take these techniques and put them into opposed settings. This is where technique becomes skill and the player really starts to learn about why and how we make decisions, and then applying the technical ability they have, in pressurised situations. This is where we can really delve into the technical details that help players make the decisions in different scenarios 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

It really is great fun!

Lots of 121s this afternoon 🙌🏻🙌🏻 8 in total for and ⚽️⚽️ skills, dribbles, turns, passes, shots and goals goals goals!!

Two small group sessions sessions tonight. Lots of technical detail worked on, and an opportunity to practice what we learnt in opposed settings.

A very busy Saturday this weekend. JPL games in the morning followed by lots of 121s on the afternoon! As the rain poured down it didn’t dampen these lads love for the game 🙌🏻🙌🏻

We are launching new indoor 2v2 Games nights on Tuesday and Thursday Evenings in Stafford.

The idea is simple.

⚽️ Drop off your child.
⚽️ They play a fun 2v2 mini tournament for 1.5 hours.
⚽️ Come and pick your child up.

We'll create a great, fun and safe environment for children to play football with friends and their favourite music beats playing in the background.
