Winning the toss and batting first, SSCC Gladiators managed 121/9 in 20 overs. Mathew Chettan top-scored with 26 off 31, while Timsander K C smashed 23 off 16 (3 sixes) and Zeeshan Ali added a quick 16 off 13. Adil Khan starred with the ball for Sunrisers, taking 3/27, while Robin Uk and Prabhu MG picked up two wickets each.
In reply, Sunrisers lost early wickets to crash to 0/2 and later 25/4, but Player of the Match Adil Khan held the chase together with a match-winning unbeaten 53 off 43 (5 fours, 3 sixes). Sourabh Bishnoi provided solid support with 20* off 19 as Sunrisers reached 122/5 in 18 overs, sealing a comfortable 6‑wicket victory.

Winning the toss and batting first, SSCC Sunrisers posted 119/5 in 20 overs, thanks to Madan Mittapelli’s 34 (38b) and an unbeaten 23 off 24 from Player of the Match Adil Khan. A massive 28 extras (16 wides, 7 no-balls) also boosted their total.
In reply, SSCC Gladiators never recovered from early blows, slipping to 10/3 inside three overs. Despite 31 extras, they could only manage 105/9. Adil Khan starred with the ball too, taking 3/24, while Surendra S and Prabhu MG chipped in with two wickets each. Gladiators fell 14 runs short, handing Sunrisers a winning start to Season 5.

S.A.F.E. 2025 - Southend cricket community Annual Family Event
The Southend Cricket Community [SECC] & Southend Sports Community [SCC] successfully concluded its Annual Family Event 2025 (S.A.F.E. 2025)—a vibrant, multi-week celebration of sport, wellness, and community unity held from October to November.
True to our mission of fostering holistic well-being and mental health through inclusive sport, this year’s event featured a wide variety of activities including Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Throwball, Carrom, Chess, and various other games.
We were deeply honoured by the presence and encouragement of special guests Councillor Pamela Cllr Pam Kinsella and Councillor Anne Cllr Anne Jones, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Planning and Housing, whose support highlights the event’s importance to our local community.
S.A.F.E. 2025 brought together over 150 participants from across Southend, representing all ages, genders, and diverse nationalities. The spirit of friendly competition shone brightly, resulting in 61 Champions and 61 Runners-Up across the various activities.
More than just games, S.A.F.E. embodies our vision to promote community engagement, healthy recreation, and lasting camaraderie—making Southend a stronger, healthier, and more connected place for everyone.
