Recovery update: absolutely thrilling stuff.
I went back to the gym for the first time after surgery, saw Jake, walked Sid and Marge on the beach, FaceTimed my parents, hit 4k steps every day and had an iced coffee.
Wild.
I also fell over on a walk and I’m still doing physio every day, so clearly the comeback tour is going exactly to plan.
But genuinely, getting back to these really normal things has felt bigger than I expected.
Turns out you don’t realise how much you like your boring little routines until you can’t do them for a while.

I can’t train properly at the moment because of my injury. So why bother?
I bother because it’s getting back into the routine of going to the gym, doing what I can with what I’ve got and not using it as an excuse to sit at home feeling sorry for myself.
Is my training optimal right now? No.
Is it better than nothing? Definitely.

Do you walk into the gym and instantly feel like you don’t know what you’re doing?
Maybe you avoid certain areas, second-guess which exercises to choose, or feel like everyone else knows exactly what they’re doing.
You’re not alone. Most people don’t struggle because they’re lazy — they struggle because no one ever showed them how to start properly.
That’s why I focus on helping you remove the pressure, build familiarity and feel confident in the gym.
Because progress doesn’t have to mean pushing yourself harder and harder.
Progress = comfort + consistency, not intensity.
My 6-Week Gym Confidence Program gives you structured workouts, clear guidance and support every step of the way — so you can stop feeling lost and start feeling like you belong. 💪

New to the gym, or coming back after some time away?
Walking into the gym can feel intimidating when you’re unsure where to start or your confidence has taken a knock. That’s exactly who my coaching is for.
I help people build confidence, learn what to do in the gym, and create a routine that feels manageable — without feeling overwhelmed or like you need to already be “fit enough” to begin.
If you’re ready to stop starting over and feel more confident in the gym, send me a message and let’s chat. 💚

Investing in yourself will always pay off.
Online coaching isn’t just about having a workout plan to follow. It’s about choosing to prioritise yourself, your health, your confidence and the person you want to become.
It’s having someone in your corner to give you direction when you feel stuck, hold you accountable when motivation dips, and help you build habits that actually fit into your life.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before you start.
Sometimes the best investment you can make is deciding that you’re worth the time, effort and commitment.
If you’re ready to start putting yourself first and make a lasting change, my 1:1 online coaching is here to support you every step of the way.
Ready to invest in yourself? Send me a DM with “READY” and I’ll send you all the details.

Recovery is still progress.
Getting injured has been one of the biggest mental challenges I’ve faced. It’s easy to feel like you’re losing everything you’ve worked so hard for, but healing isn’t time wasted.
Right now, I’m focusing on what I can control—rest, recovery, good nutrition, quality sleep, and trusting the process. Not every season of your fitness journey is about lifting heavier or training harder. Sometimes the biggest win is giving your body the time it needs to recover properly.
If you’re feeling frustrated because you’re injured, just remember: this is a chapter, not the whole story. Your comeback starts with how well you recover.
❤️‍🩹 If you’re on your own recovery journey, let me know what you’re recovering from in the comments.

If I’m honest, I thought I’d be further along by now. Recovery hasn’t moved at the pace I’d hoped, and there were moments where that was hard to accept. When you’re measuring yourself against the timeline you’ve created in your own head, it’s easy to overlook what’s actually happening.
But when I stopped focusing on everything that hadn’t changed, I noticed the things that had.
I hit my step goal on two days. I found myself reading more. I went back to journalling instead of bottling everything up. I spent time at the yard, where, for a little while, recovery wasn’t the only thing on my mind.
None of those moments felt like major breakthroughs.
They won’t show up as milestones. They won’t impress anyone scrolling past.
But they mattered.
They were quiet reminders that progress isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s choosing habits that help instead of hurt. Sometimes it’s showing up on the days you don’t feel like it. Sometimes it’s simply refusing to give up on yourself because the finish line feels further away than you expected.
This week also reminded me that putting yourself first isn’t about doing less for other people. It’s about making sure there’s enough of you left to keep moving forward.
I’m still recovering.
I’m still frustrated at times.
But I’m also learning that small steps are still steps, and the progress that lasts is often the progress no one else sees.
