The Solent Triangle Race - 13th June 2026

Champagne sailing under bright sunshine and a good breeze arrived just in time for the inaugural Royal Southampton YC’s The Solent Triangle Race.

The Race ‘devised by the Race Officer Guy Darby, has two course options:
A, starting to the West and B, starting to the East. The 35 mile race started off 3E-The Boss with a good beat plus a strong ebb tide to the first buoy off Hurst (Hill Robinson) which was left to Port. From there it was a long downwind leg, leaving Prince Consort off Cowes to Port to the second buoy (North Sturbridge) being left to Port. Back on the beat, up to Paul Heys which was left to Port, finishing at 3E-The Boss, off the Beaulieu River.

The fleet experienced winds from 12-15 knots with gusts of Force 6 later in the day. Neil and Annabel Miller’s Elidie, claimed line honours and also came first on corrected time. Mike Jones’s Second Chance, managed to finish just before the time limit and came 2nd.

A long day on the water but enjoyed by the fleet. Good preparation for the Round the Island Race.

Bembridge Cruiser Rally 6th & 7 June 2026

From cold in St. Vaast to wind at Bembridge, the summer of 2026 has given us both!

Four boats managed to get to Bembridge on Friday 5th in preparation for the Rally - Barti Blue, Evening Sunshine, Ripple of Kyle and Tandala - but unfortunately Second Chance was due to arrive on Saturday and sensibly stayed on their mooring, rather than sail in a gale.

Friday evening was spent supporting the Bar and Café (Pizzas for Supper) at the Duver Marina, before everyone bedded down for the predicted gale coming through overnight and for Saturday. And blow it did! Various crews ventured out, read books, watched films and generally relaxed before the “Pontoon Party” provided by Ripple but kindly hosted by Barti Blue, who’s cockpit is three times the size of Ripple’s! Two taxis taking 8 people and 2 dogs arrived at Brading Haven Yacht Club for Dinner. The Rally was given a very warm welcome and served delicious food.

By Sunday the wind had decreased and everyone left the Duver around 3pm for a quick sail home.

Our next Cruising event is Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th October, at Hornet Services Sailing Club, Haslar Creek. Rally Organisers: Steve & Cathy Lacey on Wild Rival

Do come and join in!
