Going on holiday? Enjoy the cocktails. Seriously.
One thing we’ll never tell you to do is skip making memories.
If sitting by the pool with a cocktail (or mocktail) in your hand makes you happy, then enjoy it. Holidays are for relaxing, switching off and spending time with the people you love. Fitness should fit around your life, not stop you living it.
That said… there are a few simple swaps that can help you avoid drinking hundreds of hidden calories without feeling like you’re missing out.
Here are a few of our favourites:
☀️ Choose spirits with diet mixers instead of sugary soft drinks.
☀️ Go for a mojito over a creamy piña colada if you’re looking for a lighter option.
☀️ If you love piña coladas, have one because you genuinely want it, not because it’s there!
☀️ Ask for less syrup or added sugar where possible.
☀️ Alternate alcoholic drinks with sparkling water to stay hydrated (especially in the heat).
☀️ Don’t overlook mocktails, many bars now offer fantastic alcohol-free options, just watch out for added syrups and fruit juices.
The biggest thing to remember? One week won’t undo months of consistency.
Enjoy the food. Enjoy the cocktails. Enjoy the sunshine. Then come home, get back into your routine, and keep moving forward.
That’s what balance looks like.

This comment stopped us in our tracks.
When Dan left this on one of our recent posts, it genuinely made us smile. Not because he talked about the workouts, the equipment or the results… but because he talked about the people.
At MHR, we believe the community is just as important as the coaching.
From the moment someone walks through our doors, we want them to feel welcomed, supported and encouraged. Whether you’ve never stepped foot in a gym before or you’ve been training for years, everyone deserves to feel like they belong.
Dan mentioned meeting friendly members, learning from coaches who explained things clearly, and, most importantly, having fun.
Fitness isn’t just about lifting weights or burning calories. It’s about gaining confidence, improving your physical and mental wellbeing, and surrounding yourself with people who genuinely want to see you succeed.

A huge congratulations to Kirsty, our well-deserved Member of the Month!
Kirsty was nominated by the MHR coaching team for being an absolute powerhouse every time she walks through our doors. She gives 100% in every single session, works incredibly hard, and brings an infectious positivity and smile that lifts everyone around her.

Another week, another couple of amazing milestones to celebrate!
