Sending good wishes to all our Cobbetts members playing at the national Inter Regionals in Weston-Super-Mare this weekend.
Hoping the weather is better than last year!

We have Dave Kilshaw, Chris Barron, Carrie Litchfield, Jay Willcocks, Dave Stubbs and Paul Bone all representing Southern Counties in the Championship. Then we have Julie Power, Janet Dalton, Mark Robertshaw and Hassi Leverett playing in the Challenge. Terri Cox, Viv Tilbury, Ron Hodgson and Graham Blake are also at the event, in the Combined team. In the Juniors we have our newest recruit - Aimee Barron, with dad Andy managing Southern Juniors 1.
We wish you all lots of success but, more importantly, a very enjoyable weekend. We look forward to hearing all about it!

Today we had Cobbetts Summer Party - a fun day for all our members. 😃
A morning melee of four x 20-minute rounds was followed by a positive feast of a buffet, provided by our generous members. Then we had a variety of skills games in the afternoon featuring ‘Bean Bag Blast’, ‘Lobbing Over the Bar’, ‘Tyre Test’ and our famous ‘Shoot the Egg’.
Huge thanks go to everyone who helped out, with special mentions for Jim B sorting out the games, Viv sorting out the food and Dave manning the bar.

Below are photos of some of our winners.

Julie was our melee champion as the only player with 4 wins, runner-up was Jim with 3 wins+21. Other players with 3 wins were: Dave S (+16), Terri and Alan F (both +11), Geoff (+4).

Tyre Test was won by Chris B after a ‘sudden death’ play-off against Viv.
Bean Bag blast was won by Ali (4 points), followed by Anne, Vi, Jim and Gill all on 3 points.
Shoot the Egg successes were Richard W, Chris B, Dave S and Antonio (our visitor from Barcelona).

There were not many attempts at Lobbing Over the Bar - probably shows we need more practice! Winners were Peter and Chris with one success each.

The planned Shooting Competition never actually happened, so that will be held over to our forthcoming ‘Skills Day’.

Well done to all our winners and to everyone else who took part.

Congratulations Patrick, our July Monday Melee Star. 👏
We had 28 players on a very hot afternoon. Well done all for braving the heat!
Only 3 members won all 3 of their games: 3rd placed was Mark G with +13, 2nd placed was Lesley with +16 and our winner was Patrick with +18. Honourable mention also to Derek and Rosemary, who won both their first two games but ended with a draw in the last round.

Congratulations to Jim Ireland, our June Club Melee winner! 🏆

We had 20 players, including several trying their first club night melee. Nobody won all 4 games, so results came down to points difference among those who won 3. In 6th place, in his first melee, was Vick (-6), 5th was Jim B (+6), equal 3rd were Vi and Ian (both +8), runner-up was Robin (+9) but Jim I was the winner (+15), deservedly so, as 1 more point in the last game would have given him the 4 wins!
Well played everybody.👏👏👏

Cobbetts 'on tour' at Southampton City Triples yesterday.

Well done to Dave, Jim and Hassi who finished runners-up after a very close and hard fought Final. Congratulations to the winning Muscliff team - young Matthew, his Dad Michael and Grandad Chris.
Thank you to Southampton City PC for hosting and especially for sorting out some slightly cooler weather!😂

Well done to Team Cobbetts at the second day of Regional Qualifiers. A day of mixed fortunes but definitely much more bearable conditions for playing!
Cobbetts will have 7 members representing SCPA at the Inter-regionals. 7 more members had the necessary 5 wins to qualify but narrowly missed out on points difference. Our remaining 4 players, all new to the competition put up a good fight but sadly only gained 4 wins. Watch out - they will be back next year!
Well done to everyone, all games were played in good spirit, even though we all seemed to have to play our own members far too often!😆
Congratulations to those who qualified - we will all be cheering you on!
