And just like that, I blinked and 10years happened! 10 years ago I threw open the doors of DM Studios for the very first time for our grand opening, the building work wasn’t even completed, the paint was still fresh on the walls, but 🤫 we just roped off upstairs and said people weren’t to go up there! I’d just had my first son too, he was 5 months old….
We hit the ground running, loads of people poured through the doors on that grand opening and in subsequent times since. There have been some dark times, covid was the hardest thing to go through for our industry but we survived, personal struggles that I’ve had to deal with have put enormous strain on things too. But a bit like raising a child they say “it takes a village” well it absolutely does with a dancing school. Without the unwavering support of my team, THE BEST bunch of people, some crazy passionate dancers and some lovely parents, I don’t think I’d have made it through.
We have gone from about 70 pupils on that first week of DM Studios, to over 700. 25 adult classes and 56 kids classes…. It’s not just a dance school though, it’s a community, a sanctuary for some and a place where most people come for a dance class and end up with more friends than they realised they needed.
