Southampton Seniors hit the road again, this time heading for the coast to take on Highcliffe Castle’s tight, testing layout — presented in superb condition with excellent greens.
The heat made another appearance, though a welcome sea breeze took the edge off.

It turned into a closely fought contest, but home advantage proved decisive, with Highcliffe edging the match by 3½–2½.
Post‑match hospitality was, as always, first‑class, and attention now turns to the return fixture in October — hopefully in cooler weather and with Southampton aiming to flip the scoreline.

Championship served up two scorching days of proper competitive golf. The course was firm, fiery, and unforgiving — anything even slightly offline was swallowed by that thick, punishing rough. Every member who battled through the heat deserves huge credit for making it a brilliant championship weekend.

Southampton seniors played host to Portsmouth Golf Club for the second home match of the season. The weather was more normal compared with the previous week's intense heat and this resulted in a very good match.

Some of the games were very close with nail biting finishes however home advantage told once again and the home team ran out winners by the slender margin of 3 and a half matches to 2 and a half.

The usual friendly nature of this encounter combined with the superb after match food was appreciated by all. The return match is in September at the testing Crookhorn course.

Southampton seniors started their home campaign with the visit of the still reduced in number team from Paultons.
The weather was extremely hot but this did not deter the players from playing out a great match. The visitors put up a good performance but home advantage finally came good and Southampton ran out winners by 3 matches to 1.
After the match the cool down in the clubhouse was very welcome and of course the food was of the highest standard as usual. The overall result from both matches was agreed as being fairly even and next year's encounter is one to look forward to.

Whisky Challenge – 20/06/2026

Glorious weather 🌞 and a course playing as tough as it has all year, with the rough grown up and ready to punish anything offline ⛳️🏌️
Twelve teams of four took on the combined Stableford format, all chasing whisky prizes 🥃 — no doubt to be enjoyed while watching the World Cup ⚽️

Southampton Ladies' Captain’s Report – Home Match vs Boscombe

What a beautiful day it was for our first home match of the season! Our Southampton ladies welcomed the Boscombe team with warm smiles and great sportsmanship, setting the tone for a wonderful day of golf.

The weather played its part perfectly—starting cloudy but soon giving way to glorious sunshine, just perfect for a competitive round. The course was looking magnificent, lush and green after yesterday’s rain, and a few of our ladies even spotted happy deer grazing nearby, which added to the magic of the day.

The match was fiercely competitive yet wonderfully friendly, and I am absolutely delighted to share that Southampton ladies secured their first home win of the season—a brilliant 3 matches, 3 victories for SGC😁⛳️🏌️! 🎉🎉🎉

SHGL Action ⛳️🏌️

Evening Ladies & Gents

This Sunday we hosted East Horton Golf Course in the 6th round and half way stage of the SHGL.

We had another great performance winning 5 out of the 6 matches and taking 10pts out of a possible 12.

This means we have taken 19pts out of a possible 24 out of the last two matches & up to 3rd in the league.

Mike Betteridge & Ric Adams won the sweep winning 6&5 which was kindly donated to the captains Charity.
