Great little session at Southbourne today. 2 Gurnard and 2 small bass for me, a Gurnard and Turbot for Dave. I fished from 11am until 6pm on a rising tide Lee and Dave stayed a bit longer, lee trying to avoid the blank. I fished one rod with a 2 hook clip down rig with size 6 Cox & Rawle Scratching match hooks, Baited with a selection of Rag Worm and Squid. The other was an up and over rig with size 2 Chinu hook, baited with Sandeel and Squid. The weather was sunny and warm with a south westerly breeze. Perfect conditions for us. All in all a good day out.

Well another coaching session completed today with 5 new anglers. We covered setting up a rod and reel, tying a basic knot and making a pully rig. We also looked at bait presentation and casting. Followed by few hours fiahing in the lovely sunshine, resulting in a Smoothound pup for the effort.
These sessions wouldn't be possible without the support from Shorecast angling supplies and Cox & Rawle. So a massive thanks to them.

Well thats the Sea Angling Classic done for this year. Friday started off well with our plan coming together with 3 Bream and 3 Hounds on the boat by 1130. Our plan then was to spend the rest of the day targeting the Tope and Rays. Unfortunately the weather turned with a force 5-6 wind pushing the seas up. With crew safety in mind we headed back towards the island to find some sheltere from the wind. After a few drifts around the forts looking for a Bass with no luck, we anchored near the blocks hoping to find a Ray. All we managed was a few dogs.
Saturday with a bit more slack tide in the morning started off looking for a Ray. With the tide starting to run we move to find our Hounds and Bream within and hour we had 3 of each on the boat. Time to try for a Tope or a ray. We had bites coming stright away with the odd Dogfish to the boat. Then I had a nice bite it was a Ray, unfortunately as Graham went to net it, it came off and we watched it swim back down the the bottom. It just wasn't our weekend.
Congratulations to Bluefin on a third title and to all the other teams than finished in the top 10.

Yesterday we headed out for a bit of a practice session for the Sea Angling Classic. Myself, Harry and Graham Warren Jnr left Sparkes Marina and headed to our first mark, bits came quickly with Hounds and Bream all round. When the tide was supposed to slacken off we headed out to a mark to try for a Tope, but the tide was ripping and there was lot of w**d so we abandoned that mark and headed back to the first mark. Only a small eel and a Dogfish for our efforts. Another move and a couple of hours left we manged to find a half decent Tope. So 3 sepcies out of the 5 we can target this weekend.

We have completed our shoreline clean up today as part of our entry to the Sea Angling Classic. We did this as a family at Porchester Castle ahead of the Crabbing competition. It was good to see lots of people getting involved to keep the environment clean.
