As the hot weather continues, I hope everyone is conserving their energy and giving themselves permission to slow down and do less! It’s been a busy week of birthdays in our house, but we have also tried to find moments of calm.
And as we come into our final class before our summer break, I want to bring this idea of calm pause into our practice by taking a balance focussed flow. Balances can be challenging, involving muscular engagement, core work, mental focus and connected breath.
But in this hot weather, our focus will be on the calm and steadiness that we can find within our balance postures, the mental focus and the regulation of breath.
We will take time to connect with our feet and feel their connection to the ground, as well as appreciating our body’s natural ability to respond to single leg stance. Balances can be a fun challenge, but also a vital skill for other physical activity, such as running, and also within our day to day life.
We will end with a restful and cooling Savasana .
I would love for you to join me!

As it starts to heat up again this week, it is important for us to try to slow down and use our energy wisely. We have had a lovely weekend staying cool inside and keeping cool outside in nature under tree cover.
In yoga this week we will be slowing down and taking time to move mindfully while connecting to our breath. This class is an invitation to step out of the heat, the busyness, and the constant doing, and into a slower, steadier rhythm.
This week’s practice will be breath-led, using gentle movement and mindful breathing to help cool the body, settle the nervous system, and create a sense of spaciousness from the inside out.
We’ll move slowly, allowing the breath to guide each posture and soften into our bodies rather than rushing from one shape to the next. Expect calming stretches, grounding poses, and moments of stillness that encourage you to soften your body and connect with the present
Whether you’ve had a busy week or simply feel the need to pause, this practice offers the opportunity to slow down, reset, and leave feeling refreshed and balanced.
I would love for you to join me!

Well what a scorcher it has been! And although some more warm weather looks like it’s on the horizon, this week offers us an opportunity for a little cool off and a chance for a reset; an opportunity to get some good quality sleep and rest and to catch up with all of those ‘jobs’ that were impossible as the temperatures soared!
In yoga this week we will be leaning into the cooler weather with a water element themed class, exploring the energy of flow, adaptability, intuition, and emotional balance.
When we observe water in nature we notice that rivers find their way around every obstacle, carving out a new path, and the ocean moves with the rhythm of the tides. Water reminds us that strength doesn’t always come from pushing harder. Sometimes it comes from softening, surrendering, and trusting the natural current of life.
Our practice will invite fluid movement, gentle transitions, and mindful breath to help release tension and create space within. We’ll focus on opening the side body and spine, encouraging ease in both body and mind and bringing a sense of calm, mindful presence on the mat.
Whether you’re feeling energized, overwhelmed, or simply in need of a reset, this practice is an opportunity to slow down and go with where your body takes you and you will leave feeling refreshed, grounded, and renewed.
I would love for you to join me!

Well the sun got the message and it definitely feels as though summer has returned! We have had a lovely weekend outside enjoying the sunshine but interspersed with a lot of rest. Did anyone get up to do 108 sun salutations for the Summer Solstice?
There won’t be 108 sun salutations this week in class, because when it’s this hot we need to shift our activity and how we behave. We can’t carry on in the same way that we always do because our bodies need to slow down and we need to give ourselves permission to do so!
So don’t worry, in yoga this week we will be leaning into the heat and slowing things right down. We will be taking a slow stretchy restorative stye class. There will be a small amount of slow mindful movement, before we slow right down and ease into rest giving ourselves a little summer reset and full permission to do so.
I would love for you to join me!

I think that last week’s Sun Salutations and summer focussed class has started to work to welcome back the summer sun ;-) I hope that you have all had a lovely weekend!
In yoga this week we will be continuing with our summer theme as we head towards the Summer Solstice on the 21st June. Last week we welcomed the summer (back) with a heart opening class.
And this week we will be leaning into our summer theme with some core work to build a little heat, as well as lots of sun salutations to reflect this time of year when the sun keep us company for the longest.
We will be exploring tree pose (Vrksasana) in different ways as we reflect upon the beauty and abundance of nature that summer brings (especially if there’s a bit of rain as well :-))
I would love for you to join me!

June
I hope everyone has had a lovely weekend and managed to dodge the rain! Although it isn’t really feeling much like summer at the moment, the Summer Solstice is just around the corner!
And so this week in Yoga we will be taking a flow to welcome summer and encourage some of the sunshine to return (although hopefully not too hot ;-))
We will enjoy sun salutations and heart opening poses to welcome the summer sun and build a feeling of space and openness in the upper body.
Expect some fluid movement, twists, core engagement, shoulder mobility and gentle back bends as we begin a short series of summer inspired classes. There will also be an opportunity for pause as we reach the half way point of the year, giving a chance to reflect on the year before and the year ahead.
I would love for you to join me!

I hope that you have all had a wonderful week in the sun and are starting to feel a bit cooler!! We have had a busy week, including my number 2 daughter’s 10th Birthday!
Our classes in May were all about the moon. Is don’t forget to look out for the full Blue Moon on Sunday night; our second moon in May.
As we move into June and return from our break, I want to kick us off with an all round yoga flow filled with sun salutations and poses to build strength and mobility though the whole body.
We will reconnect to our breath and bring a sense of focus, or Drishti, into our practice, especially as we move into balances. You will leave class feeling energised and reconnected to your body and breath.
I would love for you to join me!

It has been another few days of getting jobs done for us this weekend. And refusing to put the heating on despite how cold it has been in the house ;-)
In yoga this week we will be taking our final class of our Moons in May series in recognition of May having 2 moons this year; the Flower Moon at the start of the month and the once in a Blue Moon at the end. This weekend was the new moon, with a shift from the waning moon of the start of the month to the waxing of the Blue Moon which will be a full moon on the 31st May.
We have been focussing on Chandra Namaskar, the moon salute. The poses, or asana, of Chandra Namaskar each represent a different phase of the moon and contains poses to open the hips and create space in the side and from of the body. It tends to be a less familiar movement sequence than our Sun Salutations as we move through it less frequently, and this month has been about increasing the familiarity of the sequence to create a feeling of flow.
This weeks flow will feel very similar to the previous 2 weeks with a few subtle tweaks and changes, and will give us a chance to get out of our heads and into our bodies as we flow through the Moon Salute.
But don’t worry if you haven’t been able to join us for weeks one or two, we will move through slowly and mindfully.
I would love for you to join me!

It has been a busy weekend for us; getting jobs done and spending time with friends. I hope that you have had some time to rest and slow down this weekend!
In yoga this week we will be continuing our Moons in May theme with a focus upon Chandra Namaskar. This is to reflect that this May unusually has 2 full moons, the first being the Flower Moon and the second being the Blue Mon, so called as it happens so rarely.
There will be some similarities with our flow from last week but we will layer in new elements. Our focus will remain upon Chandra Namaskar, the moon salute, with poses to create a feeling space in the hips and upper back. The repetition of the flow will also build a feeling of familiarity in the movement sequence and more fluidity in the way that we move.
There will be increased challenge through balance as well as opportunities to slow down, rest and connect to your breath.
I would love for you to join me! After a busy start to the year, our Wednesday class at St James Road has quietened down, so if you haven’t been able to get a space because the class was full, please feel free to book a spot in May :-)

I hope that everyone has had a wonderful Bank holiday weekend - especially as the weather was so much nicer than predicted! We have spent time with friends and family as well as getting stuck into some projects in the garden. It’s a slightly later email this week as things have been a bit jam-packed!
This week in yoga classes we will be taking a class which reflects something special about this May. Once every 2.5 - 3 years, a calendar month has 2 full moons and in 2026 this month is May.
We started the month with the Flower Moon on the 1st May, so called for the beautiful floral blooms around us at the beginning of May. We will close May with the Blue Moon on the 31st May, so called because it is the second full moon in a calendar month. The phrase ‘once in a blue moon’ is a saying which means something that rarely happens.
And so in May we will be taking a yoga flow inspired by our moon salute, Chandra Namskar. These will include poses which create space in the side body and openness in the chest and hips. We will move slowly and mindfully with moments of pause.
We will build familiarity with Chandra Namaskar through repetition, allowing our minds to remain focussed and steady.
I would love for you to join me!
