Wow it’s been hot 🥵. This morning we visited the pre reception class at Thorpe Willoughby School. They’ve been learning about Bees 🐝 and they knew lots about them. This afternoon we had a visit from a home education group from the Leeds area. 9 children aged 5-11 and their parents we all had a fabulous time looking at and learning about the honey bees and the ice cream went down a treat in this weather ☀️☀️☀️🐝🐝🍯🍯

Wow what a morning the honey has been leaving the shelves faster that I can label it up 😳. All caught up now though. We are open until 3pm today and 10-3 tomorrow. The sun is shining and the ice cream is flowing. 🍦Drop on in, and see the honey bees and where your honey comes from and enjoy a drink,ice cream honey bun or one of Darren’s delicious mini strawberry cheesecakes. 😋 Darren has some Iris, Amaranthus hot biscuit, carnations, lupins and poached egg plants out for sale too 😁🐝🐝🍯🍯🍯 ☀️ ☀️☀️
The Cubs pollen relay 🤣🤣

What fun we’ve had this evening with the 6th Selby (Brayton) Scout Cubs and the leaders. There was a lot of them so they were split into 3 hives 🐝 to carry out the activities. A huge thank you to Joy Howe for making a bee related scavenger hunt and carrying it out with each hive. At the end we had a pollen relay using balloons as pollen balls 🤣. A fantastic evening with the 6th Selby Brayton Squirrels 🐿️ and their leaders and parents, learning about the honey bees, doing the waggle dance, searching for the Queen bee in the observation hive. Unfortunately she didn’t make an appearance tonight but we still had lots to look at 🐝🐝. I was over the moon when Rusty (the team leader) awarded me with my very own Go Wild badge. I must be a squirrel now 🐿️ 😁🐝🐝🐝

We managed to get some hives inspected this evening this new queen is absolutely huge (the biggest one we have ever seen)might have to call QUEEN KONG! 😀😀. We have taken some honey off our hives this week so that’s available in the shop this weekend. Look forward to seeing everyone and the weather looks good.

A lovely visit from Hambleton Brownies yesterday. So glad the rain stopped as they walked from the village to see the bees and learn all about them. We are open this weekend 10-3. 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 .

Another brilliant Home Education Session at Field Lane Honey Bees this morning learning all about the the bees and honey and a big thank you to all our visitors over the weekend (you cleared the shelves of honey😱).
