This Is My Best/Favourite Comp Ever - Do You Like Comeback Stories? 😉
I did 3 sessions in the build-up to this comp (hardly anything). The night before didn’t feel up for it, same the morning of.
First event - Log For Reps - I thought an old injury would come back, managed 🥉 and I should’ve done better.
On event 2 - Max Deadlift - there are 3 lifts - opened at 210kg and then planned on 250kg, I couldn’t get it off the floor in the warm ups and still wasn’t in the mind-space to do much, 250kg should be banked but it felt terrible when it was time to go,I just managed it, ended up pulling out after that and the remaining events (coming 🥈 in this)
Until…
A stern word from Adam Snead and Craig Galjaardt
Event 3 - Yoke - is an event no one will beat me on so 20m in 11.88 seconds was enough for 🥇
Event 4 - Bag Toss - was a tricky one because I hadn’t trained this at all for about 4 months and there was some fast guys to beat - however I did get 🥇 with 13.13
Event 5 - Stones Run - new stones meant they were slippy and smooth, but I wanted a PB on stones (160kg) and that’s what I got, which meant 🥇
If you’d have given me 180kg, I’d have done that too because as you can see, the 160kg was easier than the 140kg lol
So yeah, with a slow start, 2 DLs when everyone else did 3 and an almost withdrawing - this was a proud comeback. I know me so when I felt like I did prior to event 1 & 2, I knew if I carried on I’d have gotten injured. Alas, the power of some strong words and a strong coffee ☕️
A great first comp for Invictus Gym Louth and I’m really happy to be amongst the first winners of it 😄 you guys did yourselves proud, even though I’ll always maintain Saturday comps are better 😉
FINALLY - Even the strongest need support and I wouldn’t have done any of it (genuinely) without everyone in the first picture. I’m so grateful to be around such aspiring and inspiring people
