September’s Roaster’s Choice has landed☕️
This month we’re heading to Honduras with a washed coffee from COCAFELOL, a cooperative of around 450 producers across Ocotepeque and Copán.
It’s a lovely one. Chocolate, toffee and caramel bring plenty of sweetness, with a little ripe plum coming through too. Smooth, balanced and very easy to keep drinking.
Kev’s been enjoying this one as a filter. His go-to brew is 15g of coffee to 250g of water, brewed for around 2 minutes 45.
If you’re already a Roaster’s Choice subscriber, yours is on the way 📦
If you’re not, you can join us for the next one. Every month Kev picks a coffee he’s excited about, we roast it here in Shrewsbury and send it straight to your door. A new coffee and a new origin to discover each month.
Honduras this month. Where next? 👀

We got three stars. ⭐
On The Rocks, our whisky-barrel-aged Colombian, has been awarded a Great Taste 3-Star. That's the top rating the Guild of Fine Food gives.
Great Taste judges everything blind, with a rotating panel drawn from over 500 food and drink experts. No label, no brand name, no idea who made it. So this isn't us marking our own homework.
Some of what they wrote:
"Each sip inspires another; there is nothing cloying about this coffee."
"The whisky notes are restrained and produce a subtlety that complements the coffee rather than dominates."
That's the bit Kev spent the longest getting right, so it landed well round here.
And one we were especially pleased about, because we've been telling people it for years:
"The whisky notes persist delightfully even with milk added, which really amplifies the crème brûlée notes."
So we'd recommend to put milk in it!
That's really what we're here to do: make coffee we'd be happy to hand you. To give you the best coffee experience. One coffee got the stars, but the same care goes into every bag. Same single-origin Colombian, same 28 patient days over oak whisky barrels, same founder (Coffee Kev) who can't leave a roast profile alone until it's exactly right.
One exceptional coffee. One great achievement. One roastery that has always done things a little differently.
Before anyone asks: it's whisky-infused, not alcoholic. The beans draw the flavour out of the wood, so you get all the warmth of the barrel and none of the units. 😉
220g, 500g and 1kg, from £9.50, whole bean or ground. Roasted to order here in Shrewsbury and out the door within five days.
