What a brilliant Shufflers Shrewsbury parkrun takeover day yesterday! ❤️ 🤍 💙

Thanks to everyone involved, especially all volunteers, Christine Ivison and Dianne Morgan and all the cake bakers and eaters! We managed to raise a whopping £650 which will be split between the 2 charities, Severn Hospice and Dreamcatchers Santa Train.

It’s almost parkrun time and we’re looking forward to seeing lots of our Shuffler colours - red, white and blue - on Saturday!

Join us this Saturday 5th September, as local running club Shropshire Shufflers take over Shrewsbury parkrun in memory of their club founders Keith Ivison and Ron Morgan. Many of their members will be volunteering 😊

We'd love to see you in their club colours - red, white or blue - as you run, jog or walk your way around the course! 🔴⚪🔵

These lovely Shufflers took part in the final run of the Sexarathon series with the Harper Scarper last night.

Well done to everyone involved in the Harper Scarper and indeed the entire Sexarathon series 👏

Next Saturday we return for our annual Founders Memorial Shrewsbury parkrun Takeover - a long‑standing Shufflers tradition honouring the club’s founders and celebrating the spirit of community running.

On Saturday 5 September, Shufflers will be filling every volunteer role, bringing energy, encouragement and plenty of smiles. We’d love everyone to run or walk in red, white or blue to create a sea of Shufflers colour across the course ❤️🤍💙

You’ll find our Shropshire Shufflers gazebo near the finish, where members will be available to chat about our upcoming Beginners 5K Programme. We’ll also have a charity cake stall, raising funds for Severn Hospice and the Dreamcatcher Children’s Santa Special 🎂💛

Keep the date free and fingers crossed for a drier parkrun day than we had today!

Shropshire Shufflers launch Beginners 5K programme Running club Shropshire Shufflers has announced the launch of a new Beginners 5K Programme, inviting new runners to build their fitness.

𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐬… 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐚 𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐭❤️🚴‍♂️

Our very own Shropshire Shuffler, Alan Morris, has completed the Hope House Cycle Challenge and what an incredible achievement it was!

Alan has supported Hope House since 1993, helping raise the funds that built the hospice. He organised one of the first fundraising events to contribute to the £1.5 million needed at the time and has taken part in many fundraising challenges ever since. Today, that support means even more, as his grandson Ruairi, who lives with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, receives respite care there.

On Sunday 9th August, Alan took on the 56 mile challenge in scorching heat, riding alongside his friend, Andrew Clough, while his son Tim and friend Keith Richards completed the 70 mile route. Alan and Andrew finished in an impressive five hours - even after an unexpected road closure added an extra hill!

Alan said “While I’m fit enough to do it I will. I have always looked after myself and kept active – that’s the secret to be able to do it at 84. The best bit of the race was finishing to be greeted by my grandson Ruairi”.

Alan and his fellow heroes have raised an amazing £1,160 for Hope House so far.
