🏏 Weekend Results 🏏

Here are the results from the games across the weekend!!

The 1st XI had a dominating victory over Shifnal 2nd XI. Winning the toss and electing to field the 1st team bowled the visitors out for just 51 runs. Ashley Thomas taking his best figures for the club, 7-25 from 11 overs. Callum Dovaston took 1-12 from his 5 overs and George Duncan took 2-12 from his 5 overs. The 1s then chased the required 52 runs in 6.5 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. Harry Bolland and Ben Reed seeing the team home with 10*(8) and 6*(14). Brilliant result for the team as they look to secure promotion πŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ.

The 2nd XI lost against Priorslee 1st XI. After winning the toss and electing to bat, the 2s completed their 40 overs 103-7 on a difficult wicket to bat on. Adam Vanner top scored with 42*. The 2s put up a good fight taking 8 wickets however Priorslee finished 104-8. Paul Bolland took 3-30 from 11 overs with Tom Davison taking 2-20 from 7 overs and Freya Hollis taking 2-15 from her 6 overs. A great fight by the 2nd XI who unfortunately didn’t get the result they needed πŸ™πŸ»πŸ.

And finally the 3rd XI lost to Wem CC 3rd XI. After losing the toss and being out in to bat, the 3s were bowled out in the final over for 133. Sam Smout top scored with 40(73) and Allan Stanton also scored 38(66). However it wasn’t quite enough as Wem 3rd XI chased the runs 5 down in 32.4 overs. James Malpass took 2-21, Chris Preece took 1-23 and Nick Tiplady took 1-32. A tough game for the 3s but with two games left, there is plenty to play for πŸ™πŸ»πŸπŸ‘πŸ».

🏏 End-of-Season Award Races 🏏

With the 1st XI and 2nd XI games being abandoned this weekend due to the weather, here is a look at the top performers for each team as we head into the final few games of the 2026 season. The race for our senior batting and bowling awards is heating up!

Awards are decided by the best batting/bowling average, provided the player has reached at least 75% of the leading run-scorer or wicket-taker’s total.

For the 1st XI batting award, Ryan Lockley leads the way with 751 runs at 50.07, with Henry Preece close behind on 564 runs at 43.38.

The 1st XI bowling award is also finely poised, with Ben Cox on 37 wickets at 17.92 and Harry Bolland on 33 wickets at 14.39.

In the 2nd XI, Adam Vanner currently leads the batting with 259 runs at 28.78, while Charlie Wigley has 176 runs at 35.20. The bowling award is even more open, with as many as five players still in contention!

For the 3rd XI, Sam Smout is the clear frontrunner for the batting award with 352 runs at 27.02, although there is still time for someone to make a late charge.
The 3rd XI bowling award is wide open, with seven players still capable of finishing top of the pile.

Plenty still to play for across all three teams. Good luck to everyone for the remainder of the season! πŸπŸ†

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John O’Keeffe. A legendary figure at Bomere Heath Cricket Club, John was a skilled left-arm seamer who spearheaded the bowling attack from the mid-1980s into the early 2000s. Known for his competitive spirit on the pitch and his warm, generous nature off it, he leaves behind many cherished memories. A service to celebrate John’s life will be held at Coundon Crematorium, Durham, on Friday, 4th September at 1:30 pm. He will be deeply missed by all at Bomere Heath Cricket Club πŸ’›πŸ’™.
