I’m not saying 75 minutes away from the chaos of life, with stretching, moving and lying down at the end will make your pregnancy more manageable…
…but booking for the September block of Pregnancy Yoga is now open, so you can test that theory for yourself 😜

We're nearing the end of the school holidays and I’m not going to lie, I’ve found it really tough. I’ve loved the nice weather, the trips away, the days out... but it’s okay to love all of that stuff and still find it really hard.
And there’s a reason for that - as humans we all have basic needs in order for us to function and feel regulated, and when we get into intense parenting periods like the school holidays sometimes it’s harder to meet those needs. But it doesn’t mean they just go away because the kids are off school.
I found myself being absolutely exhausted by the time the kids go to bed (because apparently parenting my own children is much harder than working 🤷♀️) - need for rest, unmet ❎
I’ve also been really overstimulated. It’s like an assault on my senses being with my children 24 hours a day. The incessant 'mummy, mummy, mummy!' plus constantly being touched. I’m just done. I need to have a lie down in a quiet room. Need for space - unmet ❎
Having our days being dictated by the needs of small people, when we're used to being in control of our own schedule means that our need for autonomy is also going unmet ❎
And even though I'm literally never alone, I still feel lonely and crave adult connection and that’s because that’s also one of our basic needs ❎
And finally - and this is a biggie - we’ve all got a basic need for structure. I especially like routines and predictability, and I am desperate to get back into some sort of routine ❎
So if you’ve been struggling with any of these things just know you are definitely not alone and it doesn’t mean that you’re failing in your job as a parent. It just means that for this period of your life your basic human needs have been going unmet.
And the best thing we can do to help with this right now (whilst you’re still in the midst of the chaos) is to ask yourself 'which of these needs is most pressing right now?', and 'what’s one thing I can do to try and meet that need today?'
Roll on September!

You don’t have to give birth lying on your back.
It might be a familiar image of birth, but it’s certainly not the only option available to you.
Upright, side lying, kneeling, forward leaning, or hands and knees positions may all offer comfort and support at different moments.
There is no one right position for birth. The most important thing is having options, feeling supported, and listening to your body.
Save this for your birth prep tool kit, and if you’ve already had your baby, tell me -which position was your favourite for labour?

What can decades of childbirth legal cases teach us about preparing for a safer birth?
In this episode of The Relaxed Mama Club, I’m joined by US-based childbirth attorney and bestselling author Gina Mundy.
Gina has spent more than 20 years working on childbirth cases, analysing medical records and looking closely at the decisions made during labour and birth. For much of her career, she represented hospitals and healthcare professionals. More recently, she has shifted her focus to representing families and using what she has learned to help parents prepare for childbirth.
Her book, A Parent’s Guide to a Safer Childbirth, brings those lessons directly to expectant parents.
This felt like a particularly important conversation to have right now. Here in the UK, recent maternity investigations and reports have understandably left many pregnant women questioning how safe maternity care is, and perhaps wondering what they can actually do to protect themselves and their babies.
But this isn't an episode about frightening you. It's about knowledge, preparation and knowing that your voice matters.
Gina and I talk about what she has learned from years of childbirth cases, the patterns she has seen when things go wrong, and the practical steps parents can take to become active participants in their maternity care.
We also explore the current conversation around "normal birth", how we can avoid creating a false choice between physiological birth and medical intervention, and why safer birth should ultimately be about receiving the right care for you and your baby at the right time.
Birth preparation isn't about trying to control every detail of your birth. It's about understanding your options, knowing what questions you can ask, involving your birth partner and feeling confident enough to take an active role in your care.
