3 new Black Belts for DS Taekwondo!
And 2 new 2nd Dan's!

Big congrats to Ivy, Sophie and Isla who successfully passed their black belt grading a few weeks ago.
After at least 4 years of training and 9 gradings they were ready for the big one....a test in front of 5 9th degree Grandmasters in Taekwondo to see if they had the skills necessary to become a black belt.
They passed with flying colours.
A world round recognised achievement that they will have forever.
Also passing with flying colours were Jacob and Nic who passed their second Dan grading.
Well done all.
Onwards and upwards. The challenge and journey continues.....

3 new Black Belts and 1 new 3rd Dan for DS Taekwondo!

Members from both of our clubs (Crookes and Stannington): Arjun, Isaac and Sarah all proved they have the skills necessary to be promoted to black belt- a globally recognised acheivement. They were assessed by five 9th Dan Grandmasters in Taekwondo, and had to perform set movements, free sparring and self defence.
Shaun Smith who has been training a decade with us now was promoted to 3rd Dan and had to also perform destruction and power testing using both hands and feet.

Attaining this level in Taekwondo is a lifetime goal acheived for these people.

3 WORLD CHAMPIONS FOR DS TAEKWONDO!

11 members of our club aged from 10 to 60 years old travelled to Glasgow for the 12th Open TKDI World Championships.
All showed great courage to test themselves against the best in the world.

1500 competitors were there from 20 different countries including Australia, USA, Canada, Germany, St Martin, Poland, Argentina and more.

The event had an amazing atmosphere as the competitors walked in to a full Scottish Big Band with bagpipes, drummers and dancers!

Special mention to Jasmine Dixon and Sarah Falconer who both proved they are the best in the World in their divisions!

Also a mention for Seb Hudgell who was selected to fight for the England Team in the International Event. He represented himself, DS Taekwondo and England with great integrity and heart and put on an excellent performance.

Master Shillabeer also led by example competing at his 8th World Championships in a row since 2005...
He became World Champion for the 12th time, winning the Men's Blackbelt Lightweight Sparring Division.
