An open game in the early stages saw Jake Widdowson put the ball into the penalty area on three minutes, but it was cleared. Jubilee Sports were passing the ball well, and Jineal Kamara‑Evans had his shot well saved on six minutes. The visitors had an effort in the seventh minute, but it went well wide.
Michael Sokoya came close to opening the scoring on eleven minutes, only to see his effort cleared off the line. Despite the home side playing well and Royston relying on breaks, the game remained goalless. Sokoya and Kamara‑Evans linked up well, and the latter saw his twenty‑third‑minute effort well saved. Two minutes later, Kamara‑Evans saw another shot from the edge of the penalty area pushed away.
Somewhat against the run of play, the visitors took the lead when their number 11 was left unmarked and his shot nestled into the back of the net. Just before the break, Kamara‑Evans saw his effort scrambled away by the visitors.
Half‑time: Jubilee Sports 0–1 Royston FC
The second half started with Jubilee Sports putting the visitors under pressure, but no breakthrough came. After seventy minutes, Rob Farrell appealed for a penalty after a challenge in the box, but the referee turned it down.
On seventy‑eight minutes, Jubilee Sports were level when Theo Wilson scored after a scramble in the penalty area, despite a Royston defender trying to clear the ball after it had already crossed the line. Two minutes later, Ieuan Toner saw his header go just over the bar, and shortly after, Archie Saxton‑Claxton hit the bar from the right side of the penalty area.
In the final minute of stoppage time, Royston snatched all three points when their number 2 scored from close range, condemning Jubilee Sports to an undeserved defeat.

Early pressure was soaked up by a well‑organised Jubilee Sports side, who had the home defence scrambling to clear the ball from their penalty area after ten minutes. The visitors were flagged offside and Parkgate could breathe a sigh of relief.
Jubilee Sports were playing a confident passing game and looked dangerous whenever they went forward in the early stages. On fourteen minutes, a free‑kick from Jack Shaw was sent towards goal but safely gathered by the home keeper. Jineal Kamara‑Evans then saw his curled effort from the edge of the area drift just over the bar. Both teams were pushing to make an impact, and a goal was needed.
With 35 minutes gone, Jubilee Sports surged forward and Danny Barnsley scored on the break with a low shot from the edge of the penalty area. The hosts equalised on 42 minutes, leaving the scores level at the break.
The second half began with the hosts pushed back, and a run into the penalty area on 51 minutes saw Danny Barnsley grab his second goal of the game. Barely five minutes later it was 3–1 when Jake Widdowson slotted the ball home. An unforced error in the penalty area on 61 minutes allowed Jake Thompson to find the net and make it 4–1. The deficit was reduced on 63 minutes when Parkgate scored their second.
Not to be outdone, Jubilee added a fifth when a corner from Jack Shaw was turned home by Danny Barnsley for his third of the game.
A well‑deserved victory and a great start to the season.
