Nel 2021 la Fifa fece formale obiezione ma la Federcalcio sudamericana dimostrò con documenti storici che la Fifa aveva collaborato alla organizzazione delle due Olimpiadi e all’epoca, quando i mondiali ancora non esistevano, le aveva considerate come campionati mondiali
