What a six weeks it’s been for Dominica! 🏆 Five competition wins and a handicap cut of 10 shots — absolutely fantastic progress!

A couple of old habits had started to creep back in. Her grip had become slightly strong, closing the clubface on the way back. Then, from the top, the upper body was spinning too early and sending the club across the ball. That little swipe was costing her distance and control of her start direction.

We made a small adjustment to the grip, but the main focus was changing the initiation of the downswing. The feeling was to retain the coil in the upper body as the left hip started moving towards the target. This allowed the arms and club to drop more into the slot, creating a much better delivery into the ball.

The result was some fantastic strikes and a much stronger, more controlled ball flight.

Brilliant progress, Dominica. I’m really looking forward to seeing how good we can get together! ⛳️

STOP HOOKING IT — PART TWO: THE FIX 🏌️‍♂️

In Part One, we explained the cause: a club path travelling too far from the inside, with the face closing and sending the ball left.

Now it’s time to fix it.

I’ve used two headcovers to create a simple pathway that encourages the club to approach the ball more from the front and exit further left.

Remember: to change your swing by an inch, you may need to feel like you’re changing it by a foot. Be extreme in your rehearsals and don’t worry about where the ball goes—focus on creating the correct feel.

Your instinct may be to swing further right when the ball keeps going left, but that can make the hook even worse.

Give this drill a try, save the video and follow for more simple golf fixes.

Golf doesn’t need to be complicated.

STOPPING THE BIG HOOK — PART 1 🏌️‍♂️

Before we can fix a hook, we need to understand what causes it.

In this case, the club is travelling too far from the inside and out to the right, while the hands flip and the clubface closes. That combination can produce two big misses—a push to the right or a huge hook to the left.

The natural reaction is to aim or swing farther right—but that often makes the path even more in-to-out and the hook even worse.

Sometimes in golf, the answer is the opposite of what your instincts are telling you!

Throughout this series, I’ll show you the changes and drills we used to improve his club path and clubface control. He can still play his natural draw—but without standing over every shot frightened of the big hook.

Golf doesn’t need to be complicated. Understand the ball flight, then fix the real problem.

Follow for Part 2.

Hannah started in my beginner group, mainly learning with irons, but wanted to take the next step and learn how to hit the driver.

So she booked a private session — and what a lovely little swing she’s got! 👏

After watching the world’s best women at the Ladies’ British Open, it reminded me just how much we can all learn from ladies’ golf. Fantastic swings, great rhythm and brilliant golf to watch.

Great work, Hannah! ⛳️🔥

Sometimes the biggest improvements come from the simplest changes.

This player could already strike a golf ball really well, so I wasn’t looking to fill his head with loads of swing thoughts.

With the driver, he was getting a little steep and over the top, creating a big slice. I noticed his eyes were focusing towards the front of the golf ball, so we made one simple change…

Look at the inside of the golf ball.

That one thought helped shallow the club, improve his delivery, and get the club approaching from the inside. Suddenly, he was striking the back of the ball properly, starting it down his intended line, and by the end of the session he was even hitting a couple of little draws.

Golf doesn’t always need another complicated swing tip. Sometimes, one simple feel changes everything.

Massive transformation from Henry today. 🔥

When Henry arrived, his swing was very steep. There wasn’t enough coil in the backswing, and his shoulders were spinning too early on the downswing. The result? A club that came over the top and across the ball, producing big pulls and, more often than not, a big slice.

We didn’t overcomplicate it.

We worked on creating a better coil in the backswing, then simply focused on hitting the inside/back of the golf ball.

That’s it.

The change was incredible.

✅ Better coil
✅ Club approaching from a much better path
✅ Ball starting on line
✅ More power
✅ Better strike
✅ Straighter shots

The best part? I didn’t fill his head with loads of technical thoughts. I put him in the right positions, asked him what the movement felt like, and let those simple feels do the work.

Where could your golf be after just two lessons?

This player came back for lesson number two, and the transformation has been incredible. The before and after looks like a completely different golfer.

You don’t always need a complete rebuild. Sometimes you just need the right coaching, the right priorities, and simple, easy-to-understand changes that actually work.

The question is…

Where could your golf be in two lessons?

Or will you still be making the same mistakes a few months from now?

A lot of people think you have to be stood in front of a coach to improve your golf. You don’t.

This is an online lesson for a golfer in America. He sent me a video of his swing, I analysed it, and then sent him a personalised video back explaining exactly what I wanted him to work on.

In this lesson, we’re simply improving the first move away from the ball. Keeping it simple, making it easier to repeat, and building a better backswing from the very start.

That’s the beauty of online coaching. You film your swing, send it over, and I’ll analyse it, explain what’s happening in plain English, and give you clear, simple drills that you can practise at your own pace.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re in Sheffield, Scotland, America, Australia, or anywhere else in the world. If you can send me a video, I can help you improve your golf.

If you’d like an online swing analysis or ongoing coaching, send me a message and let’s get to work.

Golf doesn’t need to be complicated. It just needs to make sense.

What a transformation. 👏

This before and after shows just how much difference the right fundamentals can make.

Before, the clubface was far too open and there was very little body coil, so he had no chance of creating consistent strike or power.

We strengthened the grip, which strengthened the clubface, then built a proper body coil. The result? Better contact, a more powerful golf swing, and around 60 yards more with an 8-iron.

The biggest lesson here is that you don’t always need loads of swing thoughts. Get the clubface under control, build a good coil, and so many other pieces start to fall into place.

He walked away with more confidence, a better understanding of his swing, and a golf swing he can actually take onto the course.
