Shebbear 1-3 Combe Martin

A close loss today around 6 different players for Sheb again in the lineup. Combe starting better the first half a long ball over the top for their striker to nip over SJ for one nil. A few attacks for the first 20mins grabbing another from a poor clearance on two attempts.
Sheb eventually waking up and gelling better.

Second half and Sheb looking the better side with Rob Becket look alike Ryan Down putting a good shift in along with Ben Brace up and down the pitch.
A lovely picked pass from SJ over to Facey up top today taking a heavy touch but enough legs to get the end of it to finish well.
More of an even game and Sheb looking for the equaliser. Unfortunately not enough being created as the game went on and Combe Martin getting another from a blocked deflection just out of Shebs no.1s reach.

Next match in two weeks time home to Witheridge in the Devon cup

Shebbear 0-4 Woolsery

Bad day at the office this weekend, Sheb with out their main keeper, one of the centre backs away and a couple midfielders away so a few positions with new faces.
0-0 the first half but then,
No composure lack of effort throughout.
Sheb got one but offside given.
Woolsery scoring from an early taken free kick, Penalty and other pressure play.

Dick if the Day: Jon Taylor (number of faults)
Lots to do at training and going forward.
Still early doors…

This chap has been marking the pitch and keeping Shebbears pitch having the straightest lines in Devon for 40 years!!!
He loves a quick chat for an hour or so and enjoys watching every player progress, he says he doesn’t need GPS, flashing lights or a cab!

Langtree 2-1 Shebbear

A very close and deflated result from last nights local derby.
The first half was fairly even with both teams having a couple of chances, Langtree nothing on target, Sheb came close from Downs volley just going over the bar.
Eventually Ryan Down squeezing a lovely ball through to Noah Northcott to lob the waddling keeper deliciously 1-0.
Second half Sheb wanting to pinch another but nothing really being created.
Langtree get the ball down the right side with shebs player not challenged passing it across the box for a tap in. 1-1
A bit more play and the game getting scrappy a few different changes in places but no able to get that final ball to Gav and Noah although the two keep chasing anything.
Then edge of Shebs box a little pop shot taken from langtree sneaking in bottom corner.
Pressure from either side and not a pretty match with Downer making a delayed challenge on one of Langtrees little puddings (no doubt a yellow for Down) but langtrees player raising an arm or neck grab attempt! (Obviously a red) nope the ref only giving a yellow card, as well as a few other decisions going one way for the last 10mins.

A unfortunate loss for Sheb but Langtree deserved the win this time.

Shebbear tame the lions

Another hot day with a crisp hard surface but still fine to play for both teams.
Although a few from Sheb players away on holiday, injured or working, a nice little squad gathered to challenge Northam away for the opening match.
A fairly even match from the first few minutes in, both sides judging the long high bounce from the ground.
Gav Parnell testing Northams defence with an early shot doing the hard work but the shot not falling right.
Northams game play seemed to pan out get the ball long or wide to their quick players but Shebs defence shutting out all aspects.
A real battling game in the middle for Jeffy, Bracey and Taylor.
Shebs first goal coming from a launched pass from the loud little centre back sunburn king Quance straight into Henry Whites stride who smashed it first time on the bounce to lob the keeper 1-0.
Northam from then knocking on the door but SJ stopping everything thrown at him until half time.
Second half and a few changes made from both sides, again similar as the first half with Northam seeing a little more of the possession, eventually wining a throw up the pitch with their player having enough time to send the ball top corner even SJ couldn’t reach 1-1.
On again and Sheb turn the tempo on, close on a couple of occasion but also miles wide on others.
Then big target man Downer comes on up top, twisting and turning until he’s pulled down for a pen. Up steps Zac Coates to calmly slot in the corner 2-1.
Sheb on top and breaking again after a few minutes gone, the ball passed to Pete Blair for a close range shot but on to the crossbar luckily he chased the ball to try again and this times hits it just under the bar 3-1.
Northam going for broke again the ball falling for a free kick where another good strike beats SJ 3-2.
A real defence and midfield battle for the last 15mins but Shebs defence coming out trumps!
A tough opening game but 3 points deserved.
