EFA Harvest Clout
30/08/2026

REPORT:
Following on from the Scottish Albion day two was the Harvest Clout at EFA's home on Philiphaugh Estate.
The forecast heavy rain had arrived over night and the early morning looked miserable but in what seems to have become the norm the rain waited till the archers were togged out in their wet weather gear before deciding to dry up and attempting to poach them. With almost no wind to speak off to use as an excuse it was down to the archers. A very pleasant and humerous day was spent in very good company and it was gratifying to see a number of archers had made the journey to Selkirk to spend the bank holiday wekend.
The clout was found on 6 occasions on the 120yds and 4 on the 180 yds though Donald's was what is termed a scabby clout just touching and no more but never the less a clout. There was abundant food and drink during the lunch break and thanks go to my wife for the mars bar chocolate crispy cake, Helen Horsley for the chocolate Guinness cake and the date banana and walnut cake and also to Paul Ansted for the harvest of Victoria plums .
The shoot off by ends was flagged by Bosco Hazard

Scottish Albion
29/08/2026
The Albion took place at Philiphaugh Estate the home of Ettrick Forest Archers by kind permission of Sir Michael Strang Steel. It was good to see several visitors from south of the border enjoying almost perfect conditions although it did get hot and humid during the afternoon. There was plenty of good humoured banter amongst the archers and at the end of the 80yds Jason was holding a nine hit lead over Paul and Doug had secured the gold sweep money by taking out the cross hairs for the best gold. In the ladies Jo had a one hit over Elaine while poor Lara's only hit was on the wrong target After a short refreshment interval the archers completed the 60yds though Lara retired due to the heat. After the 60yds Jason had added another three hits to his lead. While Elaine had forged ahead with a 18 hit lead in the ladies. After a break for lunch the last leg of the 50yds shoot saw Paul pull back a couple of hits but Jason prevailed while Elaine had a 37 hit lead .Doug showed the full range of his talents by getting the worst white on the last end definitely a case of Yin and Yang

A very successful weekend at the Traquar medieval fare. We put over an estimated 500 people through the come and try earning over £2000 for club funds. Huge effort by those front of house and coaching. Much appreciated by all. Sorry I haven't any photos. Too busy to take any
