Selkirk travelled to Kelso on Saturday in the Colin Campbell cup.

Selkirk made a number of changes to the starting line up and giving Liam McKechnie his first start for the club.

It was the Division A side that controlled the early stages but Selkirk defence were coping well with the Kelso frontline. Both sides had half chances but nothing clear cut as it was goalless at the interval.
It was the home side who took the lead in the second period when a good long ball caught out the Selkirk defence at the back post and the striker scoring from a tight angle.

This would be test of character how would they react going a goal down ?However the souters were winning duels and creating the better chances now and were soon level when Cottrell forced a defensive mistake and scored at the second attempt. The Vics were now fully on top and were finding plenty gaps in the Kelso defence.
Good football from Rico and Prentice set up Cottrell who curled one into the top corner for his third goal in 5 days.

Kelso started to throw bodies forward but were reduced to long range efforts without causing Shiel to much bother in the Selkirk goal.

McClelland secured our place in the next round when stroking it passed the home keeper after more good work from Prentice.

Vics will now face Gala Hotspur at home in the next round.

But it’s back to league action next weekend as we face Hawick Legion at Yarrow Park.

Thanks to those that came to support the team.

Thank you again to Tartan plus Tweed, Niven & Purves and The Ladhope Inn for your continued support.

Back to back midweek wins for the Vics

Selkirk started the game slowly but eventually started to knock the ball around but only in spells in what was a typical derby, a 25 yard rocket from Ryan Prentice and Ryan Cottrell scoring from a tight angle gave the Vics a 2 goal lead going into half time.

The home team came out firing in the 2nd half, although Selkirk were creating chances on the counter attack it was Gala who scored the next goal.

A slight change in formation worked for the visitors and some good football ended when Cairneys delivery found McClelland who headed past the home keeper and regained the 2 goal lead.

The game turned scrappy again as Gala pushed to get back in the game but the souters reduced them to little clear cut opportunities, further chances at both ends before spurs eventually pulled one back with seconds remaining.

Vics held out to claim the 3points

Thanks to Gala Hotspur for the match and all the best for the rest of the season.

Thanks very much to all of those that came along to support the team.

🔵 RETAINED — KERR McLELLAND 🔵

We are delighted to retain Kerr for the 26/27 season. 💙

Nearly two years into his third spell at the club, Kerr has made a fantastic start to the season, scoring goals in pre-season and already finding the net in the league, while also weighing in with some assists.

Kerr is an important part of this squad and, like every player in the group, has a big part to play as we look to keep pushing forward together.

Delighted to have you with us, Kerr! 👊⚽️
