⚽️🔴 SAWBRIDGEWORTH TOWN YOUTH FOOTBALL – WEEKLY ROUND-UP🔴⚽️

Another busy week of football for our young Robins, with plenty of fantastic performances, goals, hard work and development across the age groups.

Here’s a look back at the week:

🔴 U10 Robins

The Robins bounced back from last week with a fantastic performance away in Ware. The boys were quality throughout, and it was great to see some of the work from training really starting to come through on matchday.

Freddie was outstanding in midfield and deservedly picked up Player of the Match, capping his performance with a fantastic long-range strike!

Hopefully the boys can kick on from here.

Up the Robins

🔴 U10 Reds

The Reds continued their good start to the season with a tough away game, also giving the boys the chance to wear their brand-new blue colours!

Jenson got the team off to a great start with two quick, well-taken goals.

It was a competitive game against a useful Abbey Panthers side, who showed plenty of quality on the ball. Both teams created chances, making for a real test of character for our boys.

Plenty of positives to take away and another valuable experience for the Reds.

🔴 U11s

A frustrating week for the U11s, with the boys narrowly missing out despite putting in another really good performance.

We created plenty of chances throughout the game and, with a little more luck in front of goal, could have found the net several more times.

The effort, attitude and quality were all there, and although the result didn’t reflect the performance, there are plenty of positives to build on.

🔴 U12s

What a performance from the U12s!

The boys produced a fantastic display, starting the game with high energy and real intensity and putting their opponents under constant pressure.

For the first time this season, that fast start really set the tone, and the boys thoroughly dominated the game with great performances all over the pitch.

⭐️ Player of the Match – Tom ⭐️

Tom was outstanding, scoring four goals in a brilliant individual performance! ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

James also got on the scoresheet with two cracking goals

A fantastic team performance and one the boys can be really proud of.

🔴 U14s

Our young Robins put in a brilliant away performance against Hoddesdon U14s this week.

There were excellent goals from Teddy and another for Cooper, who continue to make their mark in front of goal.

A special mention goes to Arthur,one of our new signings, who scored his first goal for Sawbridgeworth Town!We’re sure there will be plenty more to come from Arthur.

⭐️ Player of the Match – Captain Luke⭐️

A thoroughly deserved MOTM for Luke after an excellent performance in defence. Leading from the back, Luke was outstanding and helped the team keep a clean sheet.

A big welcome to all our new signings this season — Arthur, Cooper O and Romeo.

We’re delighted to have you with us and look forward to seeing you develop in the famous Sawbridgeworth Town shirt!

🔴 U15 Girls

The U15 girls were involved in a fantastic, end-to-end battle against a very strong and physical LGCE side.

The girls gave as good as they got and showed plenty of fight throughout the game. Kayla was closely marked for much of the match, which created opportunities for Madi to push forward and help drive our attacks.

At the other end, Phoebe and Aliciadid a fantastic job defensively, keeping the LGCE No. 9 quiet.

⭐️ Player of the Match – Madi⭐️

After impressing at right back last week, Madi took on an attacking midfield role and worked incredibly hard closing down, pushing forward and doing everything she could to create opportunities for the team.

A really positive performance from the girls and plenty to build on going forward.

⚽️ SAWBRIDGEWORTH FC JUNIORS – WEEKLY ROUND UP ⚽️

Another busy weekend for our junior teams, with plenty of effort, determination and some fantastic football across the age groups.

🔴 U10 Reds

A fantastic team performance from the U10 Reds against East Herts Youth.

It didn’t take long for the Reds to make their mark, with Jacob finding the net to give Sawbridgeworth the lead.

East Herts responded strongly and managed to equalise, but the Reds continued to dominate possession and create opportunities.

There was some fantastic one-touch football on display, with excellent combination play helping Town regain control of the game. That pressure eventually paid off, with Jacob in the right place at the right time to tap home his second of the game.

At the back, Oliver produced a fantastic defensive performance, making several important challenges and helping the Reds see the game out.

⭐ Man of the Match: Oliver

A great team performance and a well-earned victory for the U10 Reds!

🔴 U10 Robins

A heartbreaking result for the U10 Robins.

The boys found themselves two goals down at half time but showed fantastic character to battle their way back into the game. Ben and Maximus both found the net to bring things level.

Chances came at both ends, but unfortunately the opposition managed to find the winner right at the end. A tough one to take after such a brilliant comeback.

⭐ Player of the Match: Oliver, who put in a fantastic defensive display.

Lots of positives to take from a brilliant second-half performance.

🔴 U11s

A special mention to our two Players of the Match this week, who were both excellent.

🧤 Ray produced some brilliant saves, while Albie put in an excellent defensive display.

Fantastic efforts from both boys and a great contribution to the team!

🔴 U12s

Another unlucky defeat for the U12s, going down 2-1 in an open and entertaining game.

We had chances to score a few more, but their keeper made some excellent saves although, to be fair, ours did too!

After a slightly lethargic start, the boys raised their energy levels and put in a great shift. It just didn’t quite fall our way today.

That’s two really tight games that could easily have gone our way. The victory is coming!

No photo this week, as the boys were understandably a little down after the final whistle. We’ll lift them back up and go again next week!

🔴 U14s

A tough one to take for the U14s this week as they went down 3-1 against Bedwell.

There were some excellent chances created, and Cooper grabbed a great goal, but unfortunately it just wasn’t our day.

The boys will dust themselves down and go again next week.

Player of the Match: Josh

🦅 U15 Girls Falcons

A really challenging afternoon for the Falcons, but one that showed plenty of character, resilience and team spirit.

The girls started the game with a small squad and, unfortunately, an injury meant they were down to 10 players by half time. With two players also brand new to football and another feeling unwell, it was always going to be a difficult afternoon.

Despite the circumstances, the girls kept going and supported one another throughout. Their attitude and determination deserve huge credit, and they showed exactly what being part of a team is all about. ❤️

After the final whistle, the focus was on lifting the girls’ spirits and reminding them that one tough game does not define them.

There will be plenty more opportunities to learn, improve and enjoy their football. We’ll put this one behind us, stick together and come back stronger next week! ⚽️

Whatever the result, our teams continue to work hard, develop and show great character.

SAWBRIDGEWORTH TOWN — WEEKEND FOOTBALL ROUND-UP

Another busy weekend of football across Sawbridgeworth Town, with teams from our juniors through to the U18s getting back out on the pitch.

There were wins, draws, tough results and plenty of lessons learned, but most importantly, lots of effort, teamwork and players enjoying their football.

U10 Robins
Not the result the boys were looking for, but there were plenty of positives to take from the game. It was fairly even for long periods and the boys created chances, including a goal that was ruled out and a few opportunities that just wouldn’t go in!
Sometimes that’s football. The boys kept going and will be looking to bounce back next week.

U10 Reds
What a performance from the Reds! After a fantastic training session during the week, the boys brought what they had learned into the game and showed great teamwork, effort and determination.
A special mention to goalkeeper Walter, who not only made some great saves but also got himself on the scoresheet!
A fantastic team effort and a performance to be proud of.

U11s
A frustrating result, but the boys showed fantastic character and never gave up. They created plenty of chances, hit the woodwork and pushed right until the final whistle.
The whole team shared Player of the Match for their incredible effort.

U12s
A brilliant comeback from the boys! After a difficult first half, they came out fighting and produced a huge second-half performance to get themselves back into the game.
Plenty of chances created and loads of character shown.
Man of the Match: Jude

U14s
A tough first game back against a very strong Haynes Harriers side. With no substitutes, players carrying injuries and eventually finishing with just nine players on the pitch, the boys showed great determination to see the game through.
There were plenty of positives to take from the game as the season gets underway.

U15 Girls
A very special day for Sawbridgeworth Town as our U15 Girls played their first ever girls game!
The girls put in a fantastic performance against a strong Enfield side, showing brilliant attitude, effort and togetherness. Despite being a couple of players short, they kept battling throughout and earned a well-deserved draw.
Final score: 3–3

Players of the Match: Kayla & Rubby
Kayla grabbed a brilliant hat-trick, while Rubby showed fantastic skill and tenacity and played a big part in our positive play.
Ella picked up two assists, with Madi also getting an assist.
A brilliant first chapter for Sawbridgeworth Town Girls Football and plenty to build on.

U18s

The U18s got their season underway with a tough away game against Stotfold U18 Blacks on the 3G Astro.
The boys came away with a 2–1 defeat, with the opening goal coming from a soft penalty decision. The result certainly didn't reflect the chances created, with the ball just not wanting to go in more than once!
A reasonable start to what promises to be a long and interesting season.

We may not have photos from this one, but we'll be looking forward to seeing plenty more of the U18s throughout the season.

A big well done to every player who represented Sawbridgeworth Town this weekend.
Whatever the result, we're proud of the effort, attitude and character shown across the club. There is plenty to build on, plenty to look forward to and, most importantly, plenty of football still to come.

Sometimes, it’s just not your week… ⚽️❤️

A frustrating afternoon for our Under 11s, but the boys were absolutely brilliant in their attitude and effort from start to finish.

We created chance after chance, hitting the post and crossbar and seeing their keeper pull off save after save. At the other end, it felt like everything they hit found its way in!

The result may not have gone our way, but the boys never stopped fighting, never gave up and kept pushing right until the final whistle.

For that reason, it was only right that the whole team shared Player of the Matchfor their fantastic effort and determination. ❤️

Heads up, boys. Sometimes football just doesn’t go your way but the character you showed today is something to be proud of.
