Using pattern recognition we see a common attitude amongst everybody who struggles to lose weight. It’s the same attitude that drove the behaviours which drive the weight gain and the current struggle to lose it. Losing weight is a huge pivotal thing because you have to change your attitude towards life. Less procrastinating, waiting for the right time, self sabotaging, choosing pleasure over results.
You have to decide that enough is enough and do whatever it takes. You have to choose discipline over half heartedness. Until then, I assure you that you’ll unfortunately stay stuck.

Some coaches will tell you that the best way to resistance train is by lifting weight well within your capability and really mentally FOCUSING!! Contacting! Squeezing! Mind muscle connection!
I can tell you as a coach of 15 years who specialises in resistance training - this is nonsense. The stimulus to achieve all of the resistance training benefits you’re looking for is lifting resistance that pushes you right to your limit. You should involuntarily be struggling without… voluntarily struggling by turning it into a mind game. Just shift some bloody iron.
You almost definitely don’t need to dedicate a whole gym session to shoulder training. Every single push and pull movement indirectly cooks the front and rear heads of the shoulder. The only exercise you may want to do besides this in order to target the side delt is a side raise. That’s ONE exercise that could easily be shoehorned into an upper day/push day.
Bulking is the concept that gaining fat aids in muscle growth. This has been proven not to be true. So, now - we view bulking as a poor justification of having poor food control and making it look intentional and purposeful.
Here’s a list of things that are unbelievably overrated for muscle growth:
- high reps with light weight (training for muscle growth IS strength training. Lift heavy)
- Focusing on contractions (muscles contract regardless, master technique and get strong)
- Falling very short of failure due to being sidetracked by the two points above ⬆️
- Intensifiers. Drop sets, Supa sets, rest pauses, negatives, partials, time under tension (muscles don’t respond to being BATTERED. Take them to failure in the simplest way)
- Intricate splits (high frequency is optimal for muscle growth. Ensure you’re training each part 2x per week)
The fun part of training is simply trying to improve your performance on the same 10 exercises. If you try to make it entertaining by implementing a lot of exercise variety - that’s sub optimal training. How will you see yourself improve with exercises that you’re constantly changing up? Seeing progress is what makes training feel rewarding and consequently makes it addictive. Repetition ➡️ progression ➡️ consistency
If the root of your weight issue is self control - unfortunately, no coach can help you with that. Self control is a matter of discipline, and your discipline is in your hardwiring. Your ability to adhere to the process is a direct representation of how bothered you are about change.
Don’t view exercise as a hobby. If you manage to enjoy it, great. But even us gym enthusiasts have off-days/weeks/months. Motivation is unreliable. You need to view it as a non-negotiable part of your routine, just like brushing your teeth. Consistency is key. It’s important that you don’t train only when you feel like it. The beautiful part is that you’re always glad and proud that you’ve done it once you get it done.
You can’t hope to be the healthiest version of yourself if you’re vegetarian/vegan. There is NO substitution for meat. It’s deeper than just “proteins”. It’s; amino acids, healthy fats, micro nutrients, bioavailability
Avoiding meat is not better for the environment, more ethical, certainly not better for your health.
A singular cow could feed you for almost a year. Millions of insects, mice, rabbits, foxes are killed with the mass combine harvesting of crops.
So you may as well give your body what it’s craving.
