Coaches Corner Week 16: “ Second Serve Control”
To help with spin cover on your second serve, try to place the ball more above you and not too far in front.
This will help you to hit up and into the ball more which should help the control. Make sure you keep the speed up through the hit.
Good luck
Matt.

Coaches Corner Week 15: “Lead with the Bottom Edge”
To help get backspin and more control on your volleys, try to have your racket face at an angle. Have the bottom edge of your racket leading at the point of contact.
Good luck

Coaches Corner Week 14: “Quick reaction Volleys”
Always make sure your hands are high and out in front of you when in a Volleying situation. It’s very easy to allow the racket to drop and get too close to you. If you can, it will definitely help you to execute a sharper volley in those emergency situations at the net.
Good luck
Matt.

Coaches Corner Week 13: “Recognising the Good Stuff”
We all know that Tennis can be a frustrating game. You can hit 5 good shots in a rally and then hit one bad one and loose the point. Guess which one you remember. Try to acknowledge the good stuff you do on court not just the missed shots and lost points. Talk to yourself as if you are supporting your best friend on court. It takes practice, but hopefully in time you will be playing tennis with a more positive mind set.
Good luck
Matt.

Coaches Corner Week 11: “ Space = Power “
To have more effortless power on your groundstrokes, you need space between you and the ball. The more space you have the longer the swing of your racket. This will give you more power.
Good luck

Coaches Corner Week 10:“Your Court Position after you’ve Served”
After you have hit a good 1st Serve, try to keep your position on the baseline. This will enable you to take advantage of any weaker returns from your opponent.
After your 2nd Serve move back further behind your baseline. This will give you more time to react to your opponent’s more aggressive return.
Good luck
Matt.

Coaches Corner Week 8: “Trigger finger for more feel”
Have the racket grip more in the fingers, not the palm of the hand. This will help with feel, dexterity and will free up the wrist to move more freely. It will feel like your index finger is more up the grip and separate from the others. Like a trigger finger.!!!
Good luck
Matt.
