DAYNE

Dayne hasn’t been doing CrossFit for that long, but he’s picked it up incredibly quickly.

Coming from a strong sporting and gymnastics background, he already had a really good base of strength, movement and competitiveness. But what’s stood out just as much is how willing he’s been to listen, take on feedback and learn.

And that’s where the coaching comes in.

We’re usually trying to get people to go faster.

With Dayne, it’s almost the complete opposite…

We’re constantly telling him to slow down

He’s competitive, he’s strong and he wants to push himself — which is great. But CrossFit isn’t just about doing everything as fast as possible. Learning when to control a movement, when to conserve energy and when to listen to your coach is a huge part of getting better.

Dayne has taken that on board from the start, and you can already see how quickly he’s progressing because of it.

It’s been great watching him go from relatively new to CrossFit to really understanding the movements, the stimulus and how to get the most out of each session.

And rather than us telling you about his experience…

He says it all himself.

You don’t need to feel ready to start.

One of the biggest mindset shifts when you start getting fitter is learning to be comfortable being uncomfortable.

Not because every session should be brutal — but because learning something new, pushing yourself and not being good at something straight away is part of the process.

You start somewhere.
You learn.
You adapt.
You get better.

And eventually, the things that once felt uncomfortable become things you can do.

You don’t have to be good at CrossFit.
You just have to start.

You might look at the whiteboard and see a number.

A time.
A weight.
A number of reps.

But we see a lot more than that.

We see the person who nearly didn’t come in this morning… but did.

The person who couldn’t do something a few months ago and can now.
The extra rep you fought for.
The heavier weight you finally lifted.
The confidence you’ve built without even realising it.

We see the days you didn’t feel like training.
The days you were tired, stressed or had a hundred other things going on — and you still turned up.

And then there are the people around you.

The ones cheering when you get your first pull-up.
The ones encouraging you through the last few reps.
The people who started as strangers and somehow became part of your week.

Because that’s the thing about CrossFit.
The score is only a tiny part of the story.
The real win is who you become along the way.
So yes, record the score.

But don’t forget to celebrate everything that number doesn’t tell you

ā€œI wish I’d started sooner.ā€

That’s something we hear a lot.

Andrea’s story is a great reminder that starting CrossFit isn’t about being the fittest person in the room, knowing how to do every movement, or being able to keep up with everyone else.

It’s about turning up, giving things a go, and having coaches and a community around you who help you along the way.

From feeling unsure about starting, to seeing improvements in her fitness, strength and confidence — Andrea has made some brilliant progress.

And perhaps the best part?

She actually enjoys coming to the gym.

That’s what we want for every member at Tiger Lily.

Come in. Give it a go. See what you’re capable of.

PBs aplenty at Tigerlily! šŸ”„

Yesterday, hannah got her very first toes-to-bar… and then linked FOUR!

And the video? That was only her third attempt of the session!

This is exactly why we run our gymnastics classes. šŸ’Ŗ

The main WOD classes are where you train hard, but our gymnastics sessions give you the time and focus to actually develop the skills that can sometimes get overlooked.

This month, we’ve moved onto toes-to-bar — and Hannah has just got hers! The down side is she now has no excuses in the classes 😈

Now the question is… who’s next? šŸ‘€

Can’t wait to see how many more first toes-to-bars we get this month!

You don’t have to love the gym. You just have to find the right one.

Nick is 62, and he’d tried the gym before.

The problem? He was never particularly consistent.

Fast forward to now and things are very different.

He’s lost a significant amount of weight, changed his approach to nutrition and, perhaps most importantly, actually enjoys coming to class.

For Nick, the difference is the coaching, the structure and the people around him.

He knows what he’s doing, he’s being coached through it, and he’s training alongside a group of people who make it enjoyable.

And sometimes that’s the bit people are missing.

You don’t need more willpower.

You don’t need to suddenly become someone who loves going to the gym on their own.

You just need to find something that works for you.

Nick found it.

Maybe you could too.

Why not?

This is Katie G….

Yesterday Katie got her first ever strict pull-up and we want to make a big deal of it.

Well… technically, the video you’re watching is her FOURTH. But when you hear eeeeeks coming from .lottieb114 we knew something big was happeningšŸ˜‚

For the last month Katie has been telling us she ā€œcan’t do pull-upsā€ and getting frustrated that she wasn’t quite there yet.

But that’s Katie. She’s always the first person to tell herself she’s not good enough or that she can’t do something.

The thing is, she keeps showing up.

She’s stuck with the gymnastics classes, kept working on the things she found difficult and, little by little, things have started to click.

First the handstands.
Then the toes-to-bar.
Now strict pull-ups.

Katie is one of our OG Tigerlily members, and it’s genuinely so cool to see how far she’s come — from barely being able to squat to a box to doing things she probably once thought were completely out of reach.

Sometimes you just have to be patient, trust the process and keep turning up.

The progress is happening, even when you can’t see it.

Then suddenly… you surprise yourself.
We are all so happy and Well done Katie G.

You’ve thought about trying CrossFit… so what’s stopping you?

Maybe you think you need to get fitter first.
Maybe you’re worried you won’t know what you’re doing.
Maybe you’re just waiting for the ā€œright timeā€.

You don’t need to be fit to start CrossFit. That’s what the coaching is for.

We’ll meet you where you’re at, scale the workouts to suit you and help you build from there.

So… why not?

Come and give it a go. Your first class is on us.

Davina has been training with us for a while, so we thought we’d ask her how she’s finding it.

No fancy questions. No script. Just her honest experience.

And I think that comes across much better than us telling you how great we are

Fancy giving it a go yourself?
Come along and try a class on us. No pressure, no commitment — just come and see what you think.
