Shout out to my Earls Barton class who have had a bit of a rough few weeks with venue changes whilst we get a brand new room make over. Thank you guys for all your help.
Dont you all look amazing? Did you see your picture in the Nene Valley News article page 8?
This class is a huge class and growing each week but the support they show to each other is always incredible and really shows just what Silver Strength is about. Friendship, fun as well as important falls prevention exercise. Guys I hope you are as proud of yourselves as I am of you. Keep up the good work. 🩷

Today I had a call from a lady enquiring about our Chair-Based Exercise classes. I answered her questions and then she asked:
ā€œBut I’m only 51… is that OK?ā€ šŸ˜‚
YES! Of course it is! You see, living with a chronic illness can take so much more from you than people realise. Daily pain, inflammation and fatigue are often invisible, and confidence can disappear when things that once felt easy suddenly become difficult. And talking about it becomes too hard. That’s why our classes are about SO much more than exercise. This week in our Falls Prevention classes, we’ve been practising getting up and down from the toilet. Obviously, we used a chair… I’m not that committed to the cause! 🤣 We practised squatting, holding, slowly standing and sitting back down — simple movements that we all need to be able to do, but don’t necessarily think about until they become difficult. These classes are about independence, confidence, friendship, health, exercise, falls prevention… and FUN. Definitely fun! And now for the exciting/scary bit…
I’m VERY excited to announce that a brand-new Silver Strength class will be starting in October at Finedon Road Industrial Estate! At a gym which is very exciting oh the plans I have šŸ˜‚

Well… something exciting is happening! 🄳
I’ve been having a little look around at some new venues and new possibilities for Silver Strength and I might have something up my sleeve…I’m not saying too much just yet because I don’t want to jinx it šŸ˜‚ BUT watch this space… there may be some exciting news coming very soon! šŸ‘€
And whilst I was planning all this, I thought… why not have a little get-together too?
Come along, grab a cuppa, have a slice of cake šŸ° and, most importantly, meet some of our lovely Silver Strength members!
It’s a chance to have a chat, find out a little more about what we do, and maybe even hear a bit about what might be coming next… šŸ‘€šŸ˜‰
Any donations made on the afternoon will be donated to a charity chosen by our Silver Strength community. We haven’t chosen the charity yet, so if there is a charity that is close to your heart, please let me know.
Everyone is welcome — whether you're already part of Silver Strength or you've never been to one of my classes before.
Come and say hello. You never know… you might just discover your new favourite class!

One of my lovely ladies told me something this week that genuinely made me smile…
She was out doing her shopping and, apparently, found herself walking around the supermarket on her tiptoes! šŸ˜‚
Now, I’m not entirely sure the other shoppers knew what was going on, but I absolutely LOVE the fact that my classes are sneaking into everyday life! Because that's what I want for my classes. Not just an hour of exercise, but little things that become part of your everyday life without you even thinking about it. šŸ˜†
So if you catch yourself doing one of our moves in the supermarket, while waiting for the kettle to boil or wandering around the house…
I take full responsibility! And talking of taking things out into the community…This week I’ll be out and about looking at some potential new venues in some new areas, with the hope of bringing Silver Strength to even more people. New places, new faces and hopefully some new classes coming your way! So here’s to a brand new week. Whatever you’re doing, keep moving, keep smiling and keep believing that you're capable of more than you think.
Happy Sunday everyone — let’s make it a good one!

So today I started a new class…
Not one of mine — I’m helping out a fellow instructor and covering some classes. But do you know what? Walking into a new class makes even ME nervous! My tummy starts bubbling, my hands get sweaty and I doubt myself. What if they don’t like me, what if I get it wrong? What if I look like a complete wally?
My voice cracks, my knees wobble and for a split second I want to turn around and RUN! šŸƒā€ā™€ļø
Sound familiar? Because starting something new is HARD, isn’t it? Walking through that door for the first time takes courage. You don’t know the people, you don’t know what to expect and your comfort zone is screaming at you to stay exactly where you are. But here’s the thing… You’ll never know what you’re capable of until you take that first step. So if you’ve been reading the posts Seeing the flyers…Thinking ā€œI really should give that class a goā€¦ā€ā€¦but you keep finding reasons not to…
COME ON IN! We’re friendly, we don’t expect you to be perfect and I promise you, everyone had a ā€œfirst classā€ once.
And if anyone says it wasn’t worth it…
10 extra squats for you next week! šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚
Sometimes we just have to push ourselves out of that comfort zone to achieve the things we want. So come on… take that first step.
We’ll be waiting for you. ā¤ļø

So, as we tumble out of bed and yawn and stretch and try to come to life… šŸ˜‚ we need to remind those muscles of ours that they need to MOVE too! šŸ’ŖšŸ¼
Tomorrow’s Move To The Beat classes will be a Dolly Parton mash-up in remembrance of a truly talented lady who showed the world that actually… it’s perfectly OK to just be YOU. ā¤ļø
We’ll be taking things a little easier than usual, just to make sure everyone eases gently back into classes after our week’s break.
But don’t you worry… I shall STILL be making sure we work every possible muscle I can find! So get those dancing shoes ready, bring your smiles, and let’s get moving! See you all in class tomorrow. 11am Weslyn Chapel Rushden. 12.30 Saxon Hall Raunds. 3pm Pemberton Centre Rushden. šŸ˜

I had a conversation with one of my new clients recently that got me thinking…
She said to me: ā€œAt my age, exercise isn't really about goals anymore. It's just about doing a bit.ā€ Well… I’m not sure I agree!
Why shouldn’t you have goals at 70, reach a new limit at 80 or aim high at 70, 80 or even 90? AGE IS NOT A BARRIER! Yes, we all have different abilities. Yes, we work with what our bodies can do. And yes, sometimes we have to adapt things. BUT… We can still have something to work towards. Maybe you want to get stronger, improve your balance, to be able to get out of your chair more easily, walk further. Or maybe you just want to prove to yourself that you can do something you couldn't do six months ago. THAT is a goal! Exercise isn't just about ā€œdoing a bitā€. It's about using those muscles, teaching them to work, making them stronger and helping our bodies cope with all those everyday jobs we sometimes take for granted. And it should be FUN! At Silver Strength we do what we can……but then we try to do just a little bit more. Because why settle for ā€œthat's good enoughā€ when we can keep improving? And let's be honest… Nobody gets to 80 and receives a letter saying: ā€œCongratulations! You've reached the age where you are no longer allowed to have goals.ā€ šŸ˜‚ NOPE! You can have goals at ANY age. So whatever your age, Whatever your ability… Whatever your starting point…LET'S GET GOING! šŸ’Ŗ And if you tell me you're ā€œtoo oldā€ā€¦ I'll probably just turn the music up and make you do another 8. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Good morning. Well isnt it a drab day out there today? We did ask for rain and it has certainly hit us šŸ˜†. So what better day than today to practice a few exercises and here is todays!!
Keeping our legs strong is important not only does it help us in our every day life from climbing the stairs, to getting us round the shops to buy our gin, and on and off our chairs to grab another slice of cake, strong legs are also very important for falls prevention.
Having the strength, the ability to stop ourselves if we did trip if we did wobble or stumble is vital and to be able to do that we need a strong base. A good strong core a good posture and strong legs. So come on get working. If you feel really brave today you could always do all 3 days homework altogether now that would be amazing šŸ˜†. Let me know below how you get on. 🩵
