Together myself and my mum created AB Fitness with one simple dream. To build a gym where everyone feels like they belong.
But right now we need your help & support, we have both put so much into this place and so has all of our coaches and staff, this has never been about either me or my mum making a financial income it’s always been about the mission.
AB Fitness isn’t a big commercial gym. We’re a non-profit, community-focused gym in Runcorn, created to provide a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for local children and adults.
We wanted to create somewhere for the person who struggles with social anxiety and finds a busy commercial gym overwhelming.
Somewhere for the person who lacks confidence and is frightened of being judged.
Somewhere that is neurodivergent-friendly, where people can be themselves, exercise, improve their physical and mental wellbeing, make friends and become part of a genuine community.
But we need help to keep that dream alive.
AB Fitness operates from a basement unit in Runcorn Shopping City. We’re a small facility with limited space and opening hours, while facing the same rising costs, staffing and outgoings as much larger businesses.
We simply cannot compete financially with the huge commercial gyms, and we don’t want to.
Because what we’re trying to create is completely different.
AB Fitness isn’t about having thousands of members.
It’s about making a difference to the people who walk through our doors.
At the moment, my mum and I are regularly putting our own money into AB Fitness every month to cover shortfalls and keep the facility going.
We’ve continued doing this because we believe passionately in what we’ve created and in the people we support.
But it isn’t sustainable forever.
Rather than scaling back what we offer, we want to do the opposite.
We want AB Fitness to do MORE for Runcorn.
We want to continue developing community programmes and initiatives for children and adults.
We want to provide more opportunities for people struggling with their mental health, confidence, social anxiety and isolation.
We want to continue making our facility welcoming and accessible to neurodivergent people, or anyone who wants to feel part of something.
We want to create more opportunities for children and young people who need positive environments, structure and support.
And ultimately, we want to make sure AB Fitness is still here for the community for years to come.
That’s why we’re asking for your help.
We’re raising £2,000-£3,000 to help stabilise AB Fitness and give us the breathing room to continue growing our community work.
The money raised will help towards our rent, staffing and essential running costs, while allowing us to invest more of our resources back into community initiatives & deliver more courses, classes, better support and more opportunities for the people we support and for those who need this place.
We’re not asking people to give huge amounts.
£5, £10, £20, whatever you can afford genuinely makes a difference.
And if you’re unable to donate, simply sharing this fundraiser with friends, family, colleagues or local businesses would mean just as much to us.
My mum and I started AB Fitness because we believed Runcorn needed somewhere like this.
A small gym.
A safe space.
A supportive community.
A place where you don’t have to be the strongest, fittest or most confident person in the room to belong.
We’re incredibly proud of what AB Fitness has become.
Now we’re asking our community to help us protect it, grow it and allow us to reach even more people who need somewhere like AB Fitness.
Our target is £2,000-£3000
Every donation brings us one step closer to keeping this community going and building something even bigger for Runcorn.
From myself, my mum Ann, and every one of the team at AB Fitness, Thank you for believing in what we’re trying to build.
